Hi Guys, my first posting for skylines australia >_< i know this topic has flown around these fourums and many others for ages but i need some help. I have just picked myself up a 260RS which i have been paining to get for atleast 4 years and through that whole time all i could ever imagin on it was R34 GTR rims. So thats what im going to do... but there is so much gab going around that they won't fit, you can make em fit some say, u'll never get em in there others say, you need spacers and long wheel nuts...

Has anyone done the fitout and acutally got it to ride well and perform well?? if so what mods need to happen? any help would be appreciated. Thanks all

~PW~

They fit no worries. check out my gallery if you want to see what they look like when on. darrinspencer also has them on his. my rear wheels are a very tight squeeze, but darrinspencers are ok, but I think that's due to my conversion, so you should have no probs.

Congrats on the car!

Wicked guys thanks heaps, i have seen plenty of them on the RS4s but was under the impression that the autech hubs and such were different... are the gtr rims 245s Rear and 235s fronts? theres nothing worse than having your brand new machine sitting outside ur office window while you work it just begging to be driven :(

do you guys have any ideas of cost for the rims? i have seen all sorts of different pricing around what do you thinks reasonable? if i need to get the guards rolled whats the best way? one of those "so easy your girlfriend could do it jobs? or is there a better (still cheapish) option?

Thanks people

while we are on this subject.. ( and sorry for the hijack ) but ..

I noticed with our car.. its got the autech rims on .. and you can see the track of the rear is wider than the track of the front.. and the rims have stickers on them stating the rears are for rear use only and the fronts for front use only.. so if you have directional tyres.. wheel rotation ( to ensure even wear ) is out of the question!!

Have a search thru the for sale section. Has been a few sets lately for sale

Sell price is approx $2000-2500 for a good set with no gutter rash and no tyres

Rim size is 18x9 30+ offset front and rear.

You can run any tyre from 235 to 265 wide on 9 inch rims, but 245's fit best on the stagea

To roll rear guards, take the car to a wheel shop. They have a machine that does it for approx $50 per corner

But you should not have to do it unless you put the wider tyres on.

Yes

The autech rims have a different offset front to rear

I think from memory fronts are 30+ and the rears are 20+

So that means the rear's will sit a further 10mm out each side

Wheels are 17x8 I think

Have a look on the centre of your rims, the offsets are cast on there

You will have to get tyres taken off the left hand rims and put on the right hand rims to rotate them

Fairly typical too when you have wider rims/tyres on the rear of a RWD car

Great mate thanks for the Input! ill try and snap them fellas up straight away, ill let everyone know how the fitment goes when i get them. I have the alarm install next week and will be fitting all my audio gear the week after.

Sounds nice!

I've got an Alpine deck running Boston splits in the front doors, with matching Boston co-axials in the rear doors, and will be getting a sub and amp once funds allow (most probably Rockford for both).

Yeah should be wicked, how did you go getting your tweeters in the A pillars??

Mine came with factory tweeters in the a-pillars, so I just removed them, ran new wires, and put the Boston ones in place of the old ones.

Yeah mine has the factory locations was just wondering how difficult it was to get all that removed... i think when i do the speakers in the doors im going to pull off both mirrors and check for rust... seems to be a common thing, i don't really want my doors rotting off.

A little off subject but is there a Stagea Audio install thread on here?? If not i might fire one up

GTR rims are 18x9 +30 and no rubbing? What tyres are you running?

Grant seemed to think that a 18x9 +15 was going to be a big issue.. Sounds like a crock to me >_< :laughing-smiley-014:

235 40?.....45? I think I've got 235 45's on mine: the tyres have that really stretched thing going on, because the rear rims are very borderline as to wheter they sit outside the guards or not. I'll check when I'm back in Qld again: mid-week. I even managed to get them engineered, as Qld law states thet the tyre must sit in he guards: they never said anything about the rim..... For the record, they do scrape with 4 people on board, but only a little, and I'm running SK's suspension package...

I'll get back to you about tyre size in the week....

    • Yeah the issue here is that we have a lot of topics, unless we matched on the exact word & phrase we'd get a million topics and the one you want will not likely be in the top 20 or so.
    • Yeah great idea, I have already added R32 Wiring Diagram but we can add as many as we want. 100% ! This has been something I've wanted to do for a while. I thought we could have a way for people to 'suggest' a link be added to the library when they come across something good.  We could kick this along by allowing members (maybe a subset) to tag threads they find to allow us to more easily find/locate/use good content, ie a tag 'for-library' which can then be added to the library and maybe have the tags reviewed and updated to better match the content. This would make it easier then to find the content when not using the library. We can also create pages that have lists of content with specific tags. That would allow us to add a tag and then have it automatically added to a page. We could have a page just for the 'for-library' content that we could then moderate and put wherever.  This excites me, the lack of structure with the amount of content is a little overwhelming.
    • Of course you can. That was a waste. Straight down one oil drain gallery and out the sump hole. Could at least have run the engine a little (obviously with at least minimum oil level on the stick).
    • Oh really? Maybe I'm being silly. I'll get some more shots. I had it higher but found that it went too high after a drive, I never knew this but exhausts can move around a bit when hot (makes sense, just never knew) and when it was higher it would make nice cooking plastic smells. That said, I could put some heat tape on a'la 90's R33 exhausts     Ha, I've spent a lot of my life in castle hill waiting for cars to be done. I think I'd prefer something closer but thanks D.
    • @Duncan Yes, changed filter every time. I don't have the service manual for the car yet (Car was imported and they removed everything when importing). I've been using the oil change threads in the forum as reference.   @Milkmun The second oil change was after ~4 months after the first months and I wasn't sure about reusing engine oil that was opened. The third oil change happened within 3 weeks of the second oil change and I used the previous leftover oil to just "clean up" the system. (Poured it through while the sump plug was open")
