Hi all, ive tried searching round for some answers but havent been able to find. The thing is my R33 gtst is going in for a tune and i dont know if i should hold off until i buy a Z32afm or if infact this is a waste of money for my car, my mods are: Bosch 040 fuel pump-adj fuel press regulator, fmic,JJR twin split dump pipe, Gizzmo boost controller, HKS pod filter, blits atm blow off (i may have left some stuff out as im in a hurry) I plan to run it on 11psi all the time. My apexi pwr fc is being tuned when the dyno run/tune is done. I was hoping for at least 220rkw at 11psi and a bit higher on 13psi, my question is will i need to upgrade to a Z32 and if i dont will it affect the tune a little/lot? what should i do? could someone please explain to me the advantage of a Z32 and if i really need it/should get it before the tune, Im not really sure if i will go that much further with the mods on this car as its my daily driver (in saying that i may look at bigger inj and hi flo turbo in the future) please help!, cheers

Damo

if you are on the stock turbo i doubt you are maxing out the afm, so i don't think you would need the z32. however if you plan to upgrade the turbo down the track then you could just get it when you do that, since it would need to be retuned then anyway.

and you will be pushing it to get 220kw with the stock turbo at 13psi, let alone 11psi.

The standard turbo and injectors are your 2 bottle necks at the moment.

You definately won't need the Z32 until you change turbos so save your $300 until then.

But do get your car tuned as it is.

Power FC with those mods should get you around the 200rwkws, not your 220 unless its a happy dyno.

But if you forget the figure (i got 194) and take it for a spin after the tune, trust me, you'll be grinning from ear to ear

I got a Q45 AFM + Apexi Power Intake Kit to suit for sale if you want it >_<

You probably wont need it + the power FC already has the voltage ramp table for the Q45 (select VH41 or something like that) so a tune wont be NEEDED but definately RECOMENDED

I was in the same situation as you and took my chances im now pulling 240rwkw on boostworx dyno with the standard afm obviously not standard turbo but id say you should be fine. How ever shaun did say im pretty much on the limits of the Afm and injectors are on the cards. Let us know how you go.

You can pretty much tune anything on the standard AFM, just that you'll hit the top (20th) cell really early and be stuck with whatever that value is for any load point above, say 70%, so you lose resolution

    • Each to their own I guess  Me, I put just as much time into cleaning inside of the cars as I do on the outside As for getting wet, it is really no different than steam cleaning the carpets at home, apart from the cars carpet dries alot faster than the house, again, I only do it in the hotter months and leave the car opened up for a few hours As I only do it yearly, it is just before I do the diff and gearbox service, so I clean the carpets, then it's up on stands, wheels off, service, clean the undercarriage,  grease the bushings and do a nut and bolt check on everything  Disclaimer: I typically had all the time in the world to kill when I was working 馃ぃ, so spending a full day or 2 cleaning, serving and "looking at stuff" was,  easily achievable, and a fun mental therapy day As for time to kill, I retired last Wednesday, so apart from my physical training, my days are filled with lots of random jobs around the house and garden...."Idle hands are the Devils something something" I am also buying a new house sooner rather than later, I'm actually looking at a potential property tomorrow, I'm looking forward to getting a car hoist as I'm starting to get to old to crawl around under a car, I can only imagine all the undercarriage cleaning and looking at stuff when that gets set up
