Ok, I thought VG30 was .7 also, I should have the AVO this week for $480

sounds abit pricey. i picked up a whole vg30 single turbo for 200.. its worthwhile, im confused at why people think about the lag so much, its not like your bolting a gt30 on or something, lag is abit more than stock but less than larger turbo, its really nothing to worry about, if u know how to drive your car and use your revs you'll be more than happy..

Really would like to know how laggy it is. At the moment the R33 highflow with a slightly smaller exh wheel and bigg comp wheel than current GCG feels a little doughy..maybe because its running a bit rich.

The FMIC definately killed the response a bit..

Are HKS GTRS a lot less laggy than the R33 highflow with VG30.

Is a standard R33 high flow more comparable to a GTRS?

are u still running stock computer/?? coz the stock computer dumps a whole lot of fuel in when u plant the foot so thats probably half the problem... get gcg to do the hiflow and put the vg30 ex housing on and u have a ripper of a setup, i cant speak hi enough for these hybrid gcg turbos, theres awesome..

Im ripping my turbo off tonight and getting it fixed.

I have a blown R33 GCG and VG30 turbo for parts. Might sell 1 of them or sell some of the parts after I've used what I need. The VG30 BB turbo is actually in really good nick. No shaft play. Might wack a different exh housing on it and sell it as a hybrid.

Have you had yours tuned CHris? If so how does it go? You happy with it now? What sort of power you making?

Most likely, when you try and pull the exhaust housing off the vg30 turbo, it will be severely seized on. I.e. unless if you have an oxy torch and a hydraulic puller. There's a reasoanble chance that when you pull the housing off you might crack the wheel.

Semi tuned - road tuned. Just gotta stick it onto the dyno to check power. I'm not happy with this one. I'm most likely going for a gcg vg30 or a precision turbos one.

price isn't too bad thats ready to bolt on, and no other mods needed, machined out to suit gt30, just looking for a comfortable 250-260 rwkw, with std housings it makes a comfortable 230 but runs into back pressure at high rpm. I was told AVO housing has a better wastegate design, will see  !

I have never had a problem with the standard wastegate actuator hole on the rb25/vg30 turbos. When combined with a decent dump pipe (not like the stadnard one), I've never had problems, even flowing right up to approximately 22-24 psi.

If you're worried about the hole size, it is a very easy modification to enlarge the wastegate hole using a die grinder. Use a hole saw to cut a new wastegate flap which is of the correct size, tack weld the new flap onto the existing flap. Any mechanic should be able to do that for only a few dollars.

bugger about the turbo chris :(

Sweetr33 I have PFC that was tuned to the stock turbs..i have now changed to Z32 afm that richened itup heaps (even though I selected it) - I have added some correction but still richer than before to be safe. No tune as yet..waiting to sort alll this out.

Sounds like I may go the vg30 :)
