Bliksem
Hi All, I installed a twin plate nismo clutch today (along with new spigot, thrust bearing, and pivot ball) Problem is that when I engage the clutch pedal, the clutch is not fully disengaging/allowing me to select a gear. Any answers on what could be causing this? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/179417-installed-twin-plate-clutch-wont-releasedisengage/ Share on other sites
N1GTR
When mine went in there were no probs at all, check everything is installed correctly and go from there Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/179417-installed-twin-plate-clutch-wont-releasedisengage/#findComment-3269286 Share on other sites

T04GTR
or the wrong thrust bearing. did you use the big or little one? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/179417-installed-twin-plate-clutch-wont-releasedisengage/#findComment-3269453 Share on other sites
Bliksem
just used the standard replacement thrust bearing, could that be it? Definately cant be that the cluch plate is in the wrong way as it only fits one way. We also noted that the slave cylinder pin was a bit worn... related?? T04GTR
yes. the nismo and all other twinplates use the small throwout bearing. off a datsun 1600 if my memory serves me corectly. cos its the big one it mucked up the pivot point on the pressure plate Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/179417-installed-twin-plate-clutch-wont-releasedisengage/#findComment-3269514 Share on other sites

Bliksem
thankyou for that! I'll get another bearing sent out. Is the bearing carrier the standard one? Bliksem
ok i'll reword the above, Those who have a Nismo twin plate, did you reaplce the bearing only or both the carrier and the bearing? (just a bit confused as the picture above shows the carrier AND bearing) Thanks Edited August 6, 2007 by MintR33 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/179417-installed-twin-plate-clutch-wont-releasedisengage/#findComment-3271891 Share on other sites

Bliksem
definately wring bearing is the issue mate. Just trying to work out if i need the carrier to go with the 1600 bearing?? Cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/179417-installed-twin-plate-clutch-wont-releasedisengage/#findComment-3272045 Share on other sites
T04GTR
nar the carier is the same. but you need to get a back nismo catalogue and see what thickness you need. it is probablyu needs a thinner one. once you get the corect small bearing just see if the clutch fork isnt locked up. it should have abit of play in it. Bliksem
Ok the 1600 Bearing had an outside diameter of 65.45 with the RB25 72.00 (as best as I can remember) the thickness between them was on .5mm difference. Would the Diameter be enough to change the pivot point on the pressure plate? T04GTR
its height not diameter your refering to. height changes the pivot point. look, just get the little bearing. put it on your sleeve, bolt up the box, and inspect the freeplay. if it has any. (min of about 5mm-max-15mm) placing the clutch fork in the forward most half of the hole in the gearbox. DiscardTheWeak
Sorry to revive such an old thread, but can anyone confirm the proper carrier that is used for the Nismo plate in a push configuration? The manual makes no mention of using a reduced height bearing carrier, however I’ve heard more than once that a reduced height bearing carrier is needed, I believe one from a Pulsar or Bluebird, don’t recall. The only component that comes with the clutch is a throw out bearing, which is a standard unit. Thanks for the help Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/179417-installed-twin-plate-clutch-wont-releasedisengage/#findComment-7961038 Share on other sites
