yeah i bought one of ebay... havent yet installed it but they are very similar to the c's ones ect. so i cant see them being real crappy, iv heard of the proper c's shifters snapping in certain places too. but then again some might tell you the ebay shifters are complete rubbish... i would like to know myself before i install mine actually...

i have installed an ebay one, as well as driven with it. depending on what one it is, you may need to get new bolts for it because the ones they send you are just too short. since you have to clamp it all together with them they need to be longer than they are.

as for driving with it, it is ok, but i think i prefer the normal length. if you have any trouble getting gears with the normal length then you will have more trouble with the short shifter.

im gonna machine my standard shifter to shorten the throw. grind it down to a stright pole and re-thread the top so it decreases the size by about 5cm or there abouts. will post up some pics once i do it.

there's a few threads about this, that isnt what a short shifter does. it changes fulcrum points in the shifter dramatically. cutting the length of the shifter won't do the same thing

I had one of the $80-90 ones i did like the shorter shift that was great but i endend up taking it out after about 2 month

They do feel a bit tinny and are noisy and do move about alot and it also made my gears crunch at times

I have now put the stock back in the throw feels like im driving a tractor but i do like stock better.

I have herd the real nismo ones for like $260 are very good

yes it will. it is pure physics. shortening the top half of the shifter and leaving the bottom half the same will have a similar affect to leaving the top half the same and lengthening the bottom half. if the ratio of above the pivot point to below the pivot point is the same with the cut down one as the short shifter, the exact same result will be achieved.

had mine in for about a year now, had to modify the crap out of it to get it where i like it, cut the shifter in half and welded on the top of my original to cut the noise down (original rubber dampener fitted) and modified the clamping area as it put to much pressure on the nylon bush on the fulcrum ball causing the movement to be really tight. tis lovely now. feels like original shifter with less throw

this shows the difference in distance travelled by shortening the top half. they still go the same angle, but just take a shorter distance to get there. the short shifters you buy reduce the angle you have to move, but don't alter the length of the shifter, so it has the same affect. if you were to make a shifter with the same ratio of bottom half to top half as a standard short shift, but had it twice the length (bottom half twise the length and top half twice the length) you would still only move it the same distance as the shorter one. the angle would be much less but the distance would be the same because it is the same ratio.

    • I like it when the counter chick leads you out the back into the racks and says "have a grub around in here and see if you can find what you need. I'll be back in a few minutes. Just left me in front of a massive motorised shelving system and 2-3 million fasteners, so I could find a peculiar SS shoulder bolt with cap head. Gotta love country towns.
    • I used this https://osgiken.com.au/product/os-giken-os-250r-lsd-gear-oil-80w250-1-litre/   shut my nismo 1.5 pro up by heaps…. Not silent though. Gives the car character and personality. It ain’t a carolla. If you want silent, put a quaife in it.
    • It's about the same time for me from Bunnings, or the Fasteners. My big push away from takeaway food, and gluten in general keeps me away from the Bunnings Snags too! Weather up here, I've been out for two walks today in the beautiful sunshine. Had a few little drizzles, and some wind, that honestly, a tin of beans and I could compete on how harsh she blows Thankfully, being this bit inland, we're not getting anything much really. Will probably pick up a bit more when/if Cyclone Alfie decides to come ashore. A few areas in the GC though, and south into NSW are really getting smashed though! Right now, I'm just annoyed Alfie hasn't hit, as I'm not allowed to crack into the BBQ foods like the bacon and eggs until the Cyclone hits "In case we lose power"...
    • I love fastener joints, the price difference between them and joints like Bunnings or Super Cheap is amazing, and they either have exactly what you want, or they can get it to quick They have even given me some for free when I only needed a couple of specific size In saying this, I have paid premium for fasteners from Bunnings if they have the sizes I need, but only for convenience really, as my local is only 10 minutes away, the Sushi joint near them is also a consideration  How's the weather Matt? Stay safe mate
    • Wideband is worth setting up if only for tuning purposes. I would not mess with the ignition system unless there's a misfire. HKS crank trigger is popular out here for the relatively easily sourced Denso crank sensor, not a bad idea to install as well regardless of power level on a standalone. Boost leak test is worth thinking about. Oil pressure sensor tied to a fuel cut isn't a bad idea either. Getting the tune figured out is a good idea. Without putting eyes on it and getting under it there's no way for us to tell you exactly what it needs but most likely you're down to the last 10% that will make a big, big difference in how happy you are with the car.
