I think the big bonus with the likes of Racepace and RE Customs is that you are using the person who built the engine to install and tune the engine. You make life hard for yourself using a certain engine builder, then to get it installed by your local mechanic or yourself. Then tuned by someone different again.

If the end result is less then you hoped its hard to pick if its the build, the installation or the tune. I always think the tuner will do a better job when they know exactly what it is they are tuning, and they know it has the right fuel pump, injectors etc etc

I operate under the same guidelines, hence using my workshops preferred engine builder. Keeping things 'in-house' can only be good in my eyes, just incase

^^^ agreed very rarely will i "virgin" start another builders engine..... just not worth the headaches if he/she has made mistakes.
