Hypereutectic -vs- Forged Pistons

Recommended Posts

alot of people didnt listen to me in the RB30 thread about these pistons. i wasnt going to run forgies after speaking to several professional motor builders about these pistons. THey all swear by them and say that they have never had any come back (split/broken) under pressure.

Pistons only VERY rarley let go, due to the strength the piston. strength isnt the only reason to buy a set of forgies. It doesnt matter what set of pistons you buy, if its not tuned properly its gona let go!

One of the big "pros" of using a set of forged pistons is the weight factor. Lighter piston = less strain/pressure on the rod = higer boost = more power

If they refine the Hypereutectic piston (make it lighter), you will find that it will quickly become the performance industrie standard.

hypers are alot more prone to detonation due to there high silica content reflecting more heat into the combustion chamber. Many a hyper has had a hole put in the top of it from this, they dont like pre-detonation at all.
