Hi!

Where do you guys take the boost readings from your RB20/RB25s ?

On hcr32 they have a special nozzle at the back of the intake plenum for the factory boost gauge, u can use it with the aftermarket boost gauge.

But what about the boost controllers, should one also take the reading from that nozzle via t-piece or just get it from the turbo like factory or even drill a nozzle in intercooler piping before throttle body ? Which is more accurate ?

I've tried to get the boost reading from the factory boost gauge noozle at the back of the intake plenum for the turbo actuator. Just blocked the compressor hose, and run the hose from the boost guage noozle directly to the actuator. It felt like it pulled harder vs factory, but the boost didn't raise above 0.5bar. Stock is 0.7 on rb20s. My question here is it safe to run an actuator boost feed from factory boost gauge nozzle and what are the pros/cons ?

what sort of boost controller is it? electronic ones usually read from the vaccum hose going to the fuel pressure reg. manual ones are best not to have vaccum. i had mine running from the bov hose after my fmic install and i got pretty bad spiking. i moved it to before the cooler and all was good.

also running your gauge from there means you know exactly how much boost the turbo is producing. if you run it from after the cooler you may be seeing 1 or 2 psi less than what the turbo is actually producing, depending on how restrictive your cooler is.

but if you want it to read vaccum you will have to run the gauge off the plenum.

all electric ones advise that you get the signal after the turbo before the throttle body... I drilled my pipe from the turbo to cooler and welded a hose fitting into there... i use to have it connected up to the fuel reg hose was a bit unstable as they dont like vacuum but as soon as i moved it noticed it improved in response and control alot better
