This morning I jumped in my Skyline to go to work and went to get out the shut a gate and the bleedin' driver's side door wouldn't open!

When I start the engine the doors automatically lock themselves and to get out you either have to switch the engine off or flip the switch to the unlock the doors manually. When the switch is flipped on the drivers side it automatically unlocks the passenger side door also.

So I'm trapped inside my own car and was forced to crawl out the passenger side door, not very graceful. But no matter what I do I cannot get the driver's side to unlock, either manually from inside the car, from the outside with the key fob or with the key! I've also noticed that as of late the power window on the driver side doesn't work consistently when I go to wind it up, winds down fine but to get it up some times I will have to flip the switch about 5 or 6 times to get it to work, I don't know if this has anything to do with it, it just seems a bit suspicious that the electrical stuff on the drivers side doesn't seem to be working properly as of late.

When I press the keyfob the lock switch does flip back as if it is actually unlocked but the door just will not open.

hmmm.... I have the opposite problem: I have trouble getting the drivers door to lock. Good luck: I will keep an eye on this thread.... I suspect my problem has a similar cause

sounds to me like one of your linkage rods have popped off or broken.....i have a similar prob but mine is an electrical fault, in my r34 the central locking isn't working on the passenger side.

It turns out the latch on the door is jammed and it's riveted together so I am currently in the process of sourcing a new one. The auto-electrician somehow managed to get the door open and removed the latch which can't be dismantled without essentially destroying it so, bit of bad news there - the fun part is going to be finding a replacement!
