very good, seems like its all thumbs, besides some people that are fussy. keeping in mind its for a 33 so all who have commented with a 33 your help has been good thanks! thanks for your pics to DMR.

cheers mick

yeah dude go for it....i fitted one last weekend.......

few things to note.

*search for the instructions to fit a hybrid cooler. it has pretty much the exact location to cut the hole...i cut mine a cm or two further back so i wouldn't have to trim the fan.

* there is no nipple on the piping for the boost control.....i just tapped a thread in the piping and used some loctite...to seal it in there

* headlights were a bit of a shjt to get back in....had to modify a little bit.

* Angle grinder and jig saw are your best friends doing this job

Good luck man....if you need any advice throw me a pm as its still pretty fresh in my mind.

I fitted one today actually!! Felt a huge difference.. Seems like turbo spools up a lot quicker :)

Haha... I felt no difference after putting on 34 SMIC. Didn't really feel a difference when I installed 3" turbo back either! Maybe I just need a tune.

What engine management you running now Sid?

you get what you pay for...... :D

thats true to a point but then if thats the case and a ferrari spyder is our benchmark (as would say a hks intercooler kit) then i guess what you are trying to say is we all drive peices of shit!

i dont htink so...its all about application and practicality. you wouldnt put a diamond incrusted turbo on your car would you now...'but it cost more so it must be better!' un no thats not the case.

anyway, for most people.. you will find the just jap intercooler kit more than adaquate!

ive fitted them to a few cars before, you do get what you pay for to a certain extent as far as the finish goes, some of the pipworks needs a bit of stuffing around to get the where its suppose to be which you wouldnt get that with a hks, arc etc kit but for the money you pay for them they are pretty good for a everyday street car with a bit of extra power, so as long as your not looking at huge amounts of power you really cant go wrong with them, so long as you dont mind some things ill fitting, just work around it :D

anybody felt their car NOT going so well after puttin 1 of these kits on?? friend of mine recently put 1 on his 33 4 door, and he swears 1st/2nd gear do not pull as good as before, but 3rd/4th gear go like all hell! Had it dyno'd to check the afr's and its running well rich, and only made 165rwkw on 11psi! changed the plugs to bcpres 7's (i think it was, 7 heat range thats for sure) but it still does not go that well in 1st/2nd. Any ideas? He's has read somewhere that a SAFC might help a fair bit?

Sounds like your friend did not install it properly, or he has other issues which are causing the performance problems with his car.

he'd do alot better with engine management and a tune. safc should do the job

i just installed my JJR type 1 kit on my r33 in the last few days. bit of chopping here and there and abit of stress but it all worked out fine. took it for a run last night and i felt an improvement straight away. feels more torquey down low. definately a good buy. took a day and a half to fit it all up by myself

to the dude that fitted a r34 smic and didnt feel much improvement, did you clean it out first? im not trying to stir, just curious.

Yes I first filled it with turps several times and shook it around, left it sitting awhile, then used metho to get rid of any residue.

Honestly I didn't expect any improvement and don't see why it would improve (well not noticeably anyhow). Except if you are boosting it for long enough that the stockie gets heat soak which I don't really do... The reason I got it was to be on the safe side.

I had a just jap 100mm tube and fin cooler for my R32 GTR and i pulled 335rwkw with it on. It is ok but doesnt seem to like the repeated dyno runs when she has been pushed.

It seems good to get to this power but i am changing to a Trust cooler only because i am changing turbos which will get me to 400R+rwkw ,and we felt this cooler was not flowing enough to go beyond this point, but hey for 300 odd dollars to get to this power is still great mind you i still have the standard rubber piping i just replaced the cooler only.

Also any one interested in a 2month old jjr tube and fin cooler i will be selling it cheap $250 still like brand new i live in Sydney.
