So I had quotes of Shannons and Just cars for my S1 RS4..

The Shanonns quote was the cheapest, but had all the usual crap shannons conditions like the car can't be visible from the street etc.. Just cars was through the roof ($1500 yr + stupidly high excess). So I talked to GIO about their new custom car insurance. They gave me a quote of $1400 with no restrictions, a decent excess, windscreen protection, 65% no claim with lifetime protection etc..

So I told them it was a fair bit higher than the shannons quote and they told me to fax a copy of it through as company policy is to beat any quote by $50! So I got the car fully insured, with all the bells and whistles, for $14,000, for $980 per year!

Give them a try! Or just get quotes through someone else and get them to beat it,

choice of repairer, lifetime warranty on repairs etc.. as well.

Cheers,

Michael

i gave them a ring, gave me the best quote i had recieved.

then they told me it was a wrong quote and it ended up being 2400...for a stock S1.

wasnt even paying that much for my old modified r32...

and they werent nice to me as well.

but hope all ends up being good for you, i have been dicked around by insurance companies so many times...

and the quote u got, was pretty much exactly the same as what i got. how old are you?

they said that they will insure a s2 99 but not a 2000. I expaned to them that they are the same car, but that didnt seem to matter as apparently there are not enough s2 2000 models in Australia for there requirements. Just cars quoted me $1158 so i guess i will be going with them.

well, when i first rang, i got a quote for a 1997 S1 stagea. told him my age and all that crap.

the dude gave me a rating one for some reason. now i didnt take the quote out straight away as i had not decided what stagea to purchase first.

rang back about 1 1/2 weeks later and spoke to a lady, and she said that the quote was totally wrong, and that i shouldnt have been a rating one. even tho i had the quote numbers and all, she said nah we cant do it, the first guy had stuffed up, the new quote is $2,200....

and i was not going to pay that much.

this was a couple of months ago, but thats the jist of what happened.

How old are you? and have you had any accidents?

if you got your license when you were 18 then we'll give you a Rating 2. If you still have the original quote number sitting around somewhere can you PM it to me? I'll have a look at it....

yeh i got my license when i was 18 and a bit.

no, i dont have the quote numbers im sorry.

    • Sadly I can confirm if you are actually seeking to drift, you will quite easily spin up one wheel. Even if you're going in a straight line. I am not entirely sure of the metrics/terminology here but there's only a certain amount that the helical will actually spin both wheels. I've seen it on video with my own car where two lines of smoke switch over to just one after you really get in to it. Unlike with a clutch diff where you can keep your foot planted until the car regains grip, in my experience with the helical you want to be utilizing traction control allowing LIMITED slip or lifting (partially) when you start to spin up both tyres with a Nissan helical. Which makes them pretty sub optimal for drifting duty. That said... this is probably a helical on numbers alone. Just put the Kazz in
    • Let's just fix the problem by f**king the rest of the gearbox.
    • Unlikely, as per Greg's post. This is not helical diff behaviour unless one wheel is up off the ground. Shimming what? You don't "shim" a mechanical LSD. Probably not in the sense that you have heard of people "shimming" a diff. And the process that Nissan f**kwits call "shimming" a diff involves super-preloading a VLSD cartridge against the side of the diff to create a friction/wear point (in a place that it wasn't supposed to have one) to make the sloppy, useless, viscous diff into a hybrid viscous/mech abortion. In case it isn't clear, I consider the process to be stupid. Nike.
    • How much does the shifter move when the car is in gear with the engine off? If it is more than about 1cm you need to replace your shifter bush. Your shifts will just get crunchier, not faster, with a short shifter unless you also rebuild the whole box
