Im trying to find out any differences between the centre diffs and transfer cases between the gtr/gts4 and stagea. I am looking to build a RE4R03a gearbox behind a rb30/26 and adapt either the gts4 (re4r01a) or stagea (re4r01a) transfer case and centre diff. I know the rear extension housing bolt patterns are the same so it would bolt up but i would have to get a shaft made as the re4r03a uses a much bigger output shaft but this shouldnt be a problem but i need to know if the centre diffs are the same. Like do they have the same amount of plates in the clutch packs and do they run the same pressure from the attessa etc.

they don't have a centre diff. it has the transfer box which contains wet clutch packs and a chain drive. and as far as I know they are all compatible. as for the pressure it's hard to say as it's not a constant pressure. it varies to give different amounts of front drive.

gtr=2 way mechanical (a-lsd v spec) 4.11:1

gtr r34= helical or a-lsd(vspec) 3.55:1

stagea= open 4.07:1

gts4= viscouse 4.375:1

(these are rear)

front is same ratio but all open.

gts4 and gtr 32 same transfer with no preload (identified by 2 drain plugs)

33 34 stagea all preloaded.(cant put on 2wd dyno)

Ive heard people say that the r33/34/stagea transfer box is preloaded refering to the clutch packs inside the transfer box and that the r32/gts4 isn't. I was under the impression that this was due to some sort of residual valve in the system that holds a minimum line pressure causing some drive to the front wheels at all times and not a preloaded clutch pack. If you put a r33 box into a r32 it behaves just like a r32 or if you relieve the pressure from the system in a r33 and disconnect the pump it can be run on a 2wd dyno.
