My mate has recently, i think a month or so, bought a black R33. Im pretty sure its a S2.

Now things were going fine with it and it is pretty much stock. It has a full exhaust, upgraded intercooler, platnium sparkies.

The car has started to act a little funny under power. What happenes is at WOT and full boost, the car will be normal untill around 4.5krpm and then slight hesistation. Closer to 5krpm the car will make a 'dika-dika-dika' noise and hesistate some more. Not sure if the car is missing, or pinging or something? Is there a way we could locate the problem or isolate it? So far we have changed the oil, oil filter, cleaned the AFM and intake, the sparkies also look alright.

hi it sounds like coil packs it the same as my car :)

So at this stage it sounds more like a coil problem, like a small crack or something? I might try coating the coils in high temp. silicon. I would think that it is probably the case as i cant work out why it would be pinging?

Can i diagnose the two?

and get rid of the platinum plugs. they aren't very good for turbo cars. go copper or iridiums if you feel like wasting money. the coppers are about $4 each and will last you about 15,000kms. the iridiums are about $25 each and last you a bit longer, but in my case that was only an extra 5,000kms.
