hi all, I have a couple of questins regarding a hi flow turbo that i am considering buying (i have a lot to learn when it comes to turbo's), I only have a certain amount of information at this point about the turbo but the rest of the info will be made avalible to me as soon as i know what questions to ask.

here's some info on the turbo:car was taken to geebung drift king with blown turbo. they removed it and sent it off to Garrett to get it rebuilt. apparantly its a pretty custom jobby. 300zx turbo housing high flowed with steel wheel, rb25 compressor housing high flowed with steel wheel. (there are recipts for the work done on turbo)

would a a 300zx rear on it make it spool quicker ?

at this stage i am assuming it was origionally a R32 stock turbo at the begining, will this be a straight bolt up to my Rb25det?

will it be a better than my stock R33 turbo?

my stock turbo comes on nicely a 2000rpm and currently running 12-13psi daily

reason for buying this other turbo is so i can happily run it at 1bar daily,if and when i deciede to get it out on the track i will be happy to wind it up to 18psi and have my stock turbo laying around as a spare, i would appreciate any constructive input and answers if you have them, if you have any questions u think i should put forward to the owner please let me know, cheers Damo

shirt answer is YES. it will bolt on and be an upgrade.

Long answer would invole you answering more questions which you won't know the answers to as you are not the workshop who took it apart and measured bits.

that depends matey. The is it the 300zx twin turbo? or single turbo. The twin turbo one is no good.

Only the single turbo one - also known as the vg30det turbo - not the dett

I hope/believe it is the single turbo. why is the twin one turbo no good?? thanx in advance Damo

the twin turbo ones use a t25 flange (and are too small for your car), the single uses a t3 flange - same as your stocky.

If it has OP6 on the exhaust side and the usual R33 compressor housing it might just be an R34 turbo thats been rebuilt.. If hat has been hi flowed and rebuilt with steel wheels ur laughing. I recently bought a 34 turbo (stock) and it has the same VG30 rear housing from a Z31 3L single turbo V6 and same compressor housing as the R33. Basically the upgrade to an R33 RB25 turbo is it shoudln't run out of puf at the top. If urs is a hi flow u should see some good gains, bit more lag, more top end. Thats what it sounds like to me. A good indication of a hi flow turbo is the rear housing, If there rear wheel is large enough to come close to outlet maximum measurement its deffinately been enlarged.
