hey guys, i have recently bought a bosch 040 pump and a nismo fuel regulator. i am not saying i'd like to reach 300rwkw, but would like to be in the region of 260+rwkw.

a mate has offered his 3mth old nismo 555cc injectors for my r33.

the thing is i have a stock ecu, and an apexi safc II.

i have been told conflicting info, eg, i can only JUST run the m with the safc.

and others think i need a ecu remap

and others just say, SAY WHAT!?!?! that is impossible.

just want to know if it is possible to run 555's, and if not, what is the largest injectors i can run with my electronic setup?

p.s., i have tried to search, no info

I'm not an expert on the safc but i have seen cars run bigger injectors with them.

It is far from ideal, and you won't make 260 with an safc anyway.

Otherwise, if the price is right, grab the injectors and install them with an ecu later on. The nismos are a straight drop in and easily capable of supplying enough fuel for 260.

obviously didn't search enough.

I'll be a sport and help you anyway.

Throw the pressure regulator, safc, and stock ECU in the bin, drop the 555cc injectors in, and get a powerfc.

With those items installed, depending on your Turbo, you'll have enough headroom for up to 320rwkw.

How do I know? I've done it.

ok mafia, take a breath and calm down man. thanks for the advice.

i will grab the injectors, only $600 anyways. i dont want to buy a pfc, as i will only have this car for another yr, maybe 2.

therefore is it possible that the SAFC will do the job, even if its at like 50% efficiency.

i guess i will have to save up for a pfc.

lol, theyre only 1500-2000 anyway, should only take a few months lol

i usually stay out of these threads but anyway im curious

why are you picking 300rwkw? whats the car going to be used for?

track? street? fun? dyno comps? drift? etc

all of these and your goal really decide what you should and shoudnt be buying

whats important to you ?

do you want lag city and then power, do you want progressive power?

do you care about fuel economy? do you care about it lasting or are u happy risking and facing rebuild?

do you plan to keep the car or sell it soon ? can you afford all the mods?

what mods do you currently have?

is it auto or manual?

what are the cops / authorities like in your area?

what good tuners are near you ? do you know what ecu's they tune?

how much are u happy to spend on new mods? 0k? 5k? 10K? 15k?

answers those and we can best give you some good advice

but mafia is pretty spot on the mark, it costs $ and some mods are useless and some can be a life saver, and some $$$ saver too

ok mafia just read ur topic, all pages of it (sigh).

i am sort of on a budget atm, so my pfc will be on hold for a while, thats y i wanted to c if the safc will work.

also seeing as u have the exact same car as me, and the exact power needs i want.

i will pm u if i have a question.

cheers

buy an apexi itc and u can adjust timing and adjust fuel with the safc

checkout some US sites with supras/gtos and the like and they are making 500-600hp at wheels with afcs and even one running high 9s with just the afc. They also turn the fuel pressure down a fraction with an adjustable fuel reg so they dont have to pull soo much fuel out of the tune and affect the timing numbers too much. Its a bandaid fix i know but if it works and they all do it then it must be pretty safe.

My mates 7m is making 440rwhp with a safc and 550cc injectors and no timing control and has lasted 2 years no problem.

now im not saying power fc isnt worth it, i think if u get rid of the piggyback bits the ecu wont be that much more and so much easier to use but dont rule out the safc's.

cheers man, yeah i would like to get a pfc, but im on a budget with this project, and i bought the safc 4 days ago, so its a bit of a waste.

this pretty much answered my q, about safc and 550cc injectors.

BUT i will ask the seller when i pick it up, what system he had to run the injectors, i believed he did use an safc.

KEEP IN MIND I WOULD LIKE TO BE IN THE 260-300RWKW RANGE
