if a 33 GTR like that is going for 30 thousand what would a 32 be worth..?

Richard, id be interested to see what you get for yours as ive lined up finance, with the wife of course ( can you believe she actually said OK..?!) on that white 32 from global auto. Im a little concerned about what its market value will be when i get it to Oz but i can tell you its a bloody quick, beautiful and well built car.

that is not true.

cars by and large are relatively undriven here due to the headaches associated with traffic, inspections, road tolls etc etc etc.

look at this Vspec R33 for example.. the owner only expects around 12 thousand and its been babied.

lol, 1.4mil is a fair whack more than 12grand now! It's more like $16,000. plus add $1600 for a buyer to buy and de-reg and send, $3000 for shipping and tax. $2800 for compliance. $1000 for rego + CTP. Car looks nice but you'd still be up around $25K on the road and it's got 145,000kms...

a nice 32 here is worth between 20 and 25 for a fairly standard car. for that one in a thousand special one (either very standard, or very nicely modified) we are talking 25-30. a nasty cheap car or desperate seller is between 18-22.

a 33gtr low 20s to high 50s or 60s.

is the low end of either car any better than the high end,

Aside from all the comments above, I think the Oz government rules don't help with this at all. What I mean by this is that I can have a perfectly legal rego'd car in say Qld and yet if I try and rego it in Vic it won't pass.....why should it be different from state to state? This means that not only are you trying to sell a car that appeals to a minority of people but that is reduced further by the fact that a lot of people intersate won't look at it.

yes but don't forget as part of shipping you have to pay:

10% import duty $1600

10% GST $1760

customs agent fees $125

cleaning (costs $242 in sydney atm)

AQIS fee $193

freight $903

port charge $100

ICS fee $20

AQIS attention $25

AQIS service $193

declaration $50

so actually I guess my $3K was a bit conservative. for a 1.4mil car we are looking more like $4,000.

$1K for rego is easy. in NSW CTP runs at about $500, blue slip $100, plate issue $100, stamp duty 3% ($480 for a $16K car), rego about $300. so again probably actually a bit conservative. more like $1000-$1500 depending on car value.

it would be a mistake to assume I don't know what the costs are! I've paid them all many times over. :D

The pricing disparity is derived from the vastly different condition that you can find the cars in (from spotless to flogged out rubbish) & also the simple fact that it is quite easy to spend as much money on the modifications as on the car to begin with.

A cheaper car will be older, have fewer quality modifications. It may or may not be in inferior condition. There may be other reasons like the owner may want it gone quickly and have priced the car accordingly.

On one hand people don't want to pay too much & on the other get scared that the car is too cheap So price it reasonably, go to an effort to make your adverts read well & present the car well (ie clean, tidy, take some good photos etc). It also helps when responding to enquiries (regardless of how inane they may seem) to make the effort to compose well sorted replies & not use text abbreviation etc. But yeah, expect time wasters & spankers to make enquiries. That, unfortunately, is life.

just like any enthusiast car,a GTR appeals to a limited number of the car buying public. sometimes you'll get a buyer who is looking for EXACTLY the car you are selling and will buy it as soon as you advertise it, sometimes it takes a long time to find that particular buyer.

its the same principal for any niche product.

it would have to be one mighty special car to be worth any more than about $30 I would say $35K would be possible but stretching it. $40K minimal chance of realising that. for that money we need to be talking.

full 2.8 litre built by someone like mines, or tomei, or top secret

all supporting gear and all top shelf (turbo(s), injectors, pump, rail, reg, gauges, intercooler, radiator, oil cooler, cams, headwork, ecu etc etc)

top shelf suspension

upgraded gear box

mint interior

BIG brakes

no accident history and all original body work

low kms (like under 80,000kms)

documented service and owner history

Then you have basically the holy grail of 32 GTR and could get $30+ and maybe $40K but it's a lot of money for a 32 GTR. There is no massive margin in buying a GTR (any GTR) in japan to sell in aus.

Adam, not having a go, but I highly doubt you would see $40k for that, no matter how well it presents.

It looks like a very nice car, and if you were importing it for yourself, then by all means go right ahead, but if you are thinking of bringing it in with a view to turning a quick buck, you will get a rude lesson in Australian market value :D

As an example, my friend just picked up a 93 model here, that was by far, the best R32 GTR I have ever seen in 5 years of being a Skyline junkie. It has genuine km's, the most immaculate showroom bodywork in/out & underneath that you could ever hope to find, has a shopping list of top shelf Japanese parts, and has done a 10 second pass at WSID, and he paid $25k for it.

well you just answered my question. i will be able to make at least that much off the car.

Judging by the overall quality and presentation of the majority of cars they sell, I concur.

The thread starter in this case could take a leaf out of Global Auto's book when it comes to taking good quality high resolution photos to help market a car for sale.

make no mistake it's a kick arse GTR. and up on the top shelf of cars around, but I would say it would be around $30-$35 max. here. I mean anyone here can buy it for $20K just like you can, then have it on the road for around $30K...

thats a mighty big statement. any pics by any chance?

that would also have to qualify for the "freak GTR buy of the decade" though wouldnt it?
