Dam internet, i have to type it all again

Turbine side:

Exducer = 54mm

Inducer = 64mm

140 Trim or 71 trim, cos the exducer is back to front here???

Compressor side:

Exducer = 70mm

Inducer = 54mm

59 Trim

ALSO what core do i have when i took it all apart, i only have the following part in there

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/COMPLETE-TU...sspagenameZWD2V

6,5,2,1,3 and 7. No number 8 and some of the others.

Gday Russ , welcome to the world of bastard hybrids .

From the top , I reckon the compressor housing is a Hitachi HT- I think SS from a series 4 or 5 RX7 13B turbo engine . I'll bet the turbine is from the same . The bearing housing looks like a water cooled Garrett T3 and the turbine housing from a single turbo RB or VG ceramic BB turbo . The compressor wheel looks like a 70mm 8/16 blade Garrett T04B . Lastly the compressor end seal is a carbon or mechanical face seal .

If it comes from South Aus there's a good chance that ATS built it .

You call but I would not put the 8/16 blade T04B wheel back in it because it will almost certainly surge . Garrett also make 6/12 blade versions of that compressor wheel family and they would be the simplist cheapest fix for it . If you can measure the front or inducer diametre of that wheel I can look it up and tell you the closest match in the 6/12 blade wheels .

From memory Bill Keen used to use either the -24 or -25 8/16 blade wheels possibly because these are the largest that would fit in the Hitachi compressor cover .

What is this thing aimed at ?

Cheers A .

hi Mate

Yeah the rear is an RB25 rear, same stamped numbers as mine.

the front is an RX7 as you said, but the cover has been hig flowed to shit, i have a standard one and the differance is hudge.

The front seal is a carbon seal, but i have no other components in there like a normal turbo, seams strange.

The turbo is to go on an RB25, and i was hoping it would not be too surgy. How do you know if a turbo will surge?

So the easiest way to fix it is to put a differnt compressor in it? How much do these go for? The turbo was originaly on an 180 SX belive it or not.

I don't look very often at T04B compressor lists nowdays and my list of the 8/16 blade range isn't complete . I think I still have the hybrid I had built like that ages ago and I know it has the -24 comp wheel in it . If I get time I'll measure it up later but ~ 54 mm rings a bell .

Similar sized 6/12 blade ones are 57 62 and 70 trims having 52.85 , 55.30 and 58.4mm inducer wheel sizes .

The problem with using these T04B compressors in T3 or those Hitachi comp covers is that the inlet boss diametre (approx 60mm) is a little small for the larger trim inducer sizes and , you have to allow for housing clearance on the wheel and enough wall thickness on the boss to take the inlet duct without cracking or crushing it . Its the same deal if you use the RB25 compressor cover as I did on my hybrid . Some people have used the T04B comp cover and backplate on the T3 bearing housing as they bolt up ok . At least then you have a housing thats native to the compressor wheel .

It really is hit and miss with these hybrids because so many different parts have been altered and the overall result can be hard to predict . You have to realise that to go down a development path costs money , to try 2 or 3 different compressor trims and couple of turbine housing A/R's means time and money and it gets tedious very quickly . If you have it I'd get the RB25 comp housing reprofiled to suit one of the 6/12 blade wheels run it and call it a day .

Cheers A .

    • I should note too as I have all 4 wheel speed inputs to the emtron I now have the emtron controlling the attessa solenoid for 4wd/traction and launch control strategies.
    • It works quite well with the adjustibility within each of the programs of the turbolamik. Essentially p1 is drive and lockup comes on like a normal driver.  But in program 7 I have customised it to not request the lockup clutch to engage until something like 6500/7 when slip was the lowest.
    • Yep, I like that. The tags are only on the first post of a thread and we don't get huge numbers of new threads. Also, I plan to add some more report types and we could have a member report type like 'review tags' then members could flag if they thought a topic wasn't tagged correctly.  No way man, I dig the input. Thanks!
    • It's a valid thought. There's not exactly that functionality already (when creating a thread) - that's where the OP can use/create any tag they want. We'd have to come up with a way for the user to request their tags get reviewed or something. Otherwise the mods would have to review every new post's tags (for those that have them, anyway). There's kind of that functionality already exists to some extent, post facto of starting the thread, where the OP or any other user could report the post to admins, and request that tags get reviewed. We could do this already, and any user could already have made such a request. To make it a part of the forum proper, it would require an initial and an ongoing education programme, so that people know that it's a thing. OP based tagging/request for review would also require at least some (probably most) of the user base to be told that it's a thing they can do. Both of these things probably wouldn't spread too far and/or get used very much. If it was the standard approach on a lot of different sites, then it might do, because people would be used to it. Prank's approach to this differs from my original thought, by leaning into tagging. Which is fine - it's possibly better than what I originally suggested. In fact, I just went to the R32 GTR wiring diagram thread and added tags, including "Library". That's probably a good way to use tags and the idea of a library. We just have to drag together an (organised!) index of threads or posts that have that tag. I have yet to do any of my own follow up by pursuing worthy threads and posts and reporting/marking/tagging them for the library, such as the @Sydneykid stuff I was talking about, and possibly any amount of @Lithium 's and others' posts. At least if I tag them Library, we'll have a start.   Back to @Wazmond's idea as it relates to @PranK's, we might have some sort of a list of tags that are already used to scrape for this library. I'm not entirely sure how that would be presented or used, particularly if it got long. But it's yet another idea!   cheers
    • Just a thought, but instead of restricting, is it possible to do like an "up for review" kind of thing? Where say someone who's not an admin/mod tags, it would require approval for it to actually tag? User posts with a 'tag' > Admin/Mod Reviews > Approves tag > Tag now exists kinda thing? Just came across this thread so Im not too sure if Im straying off topic or not but forgive me if i am...
