the number refers to the size of the crown wheel (R200 crownwheel is 200mm in diameter) Its like when you hear people talk about 9" diff in their ford/holden etc. So from the outside the R180 housing looks smaller.

thanx.if i want to put on a lsd on my a31 rb20e auto, which lsd can easily bolt on only?can i use a abs type without changing the long shaft?

I think the ABS diff has a longer housing to fit the ABS sensor? Not sure though.

From what I see everyone uses R200 LSD. Make sure you get one with halfshafts to suit your driveshafts, skylines use 5*1 bolt pattern as opposed to S13/A31 using 3*2 bolts.

I have two diffs, both from cefiro's - both R200's one is a Viscous LSD with the Sensor plug, the other is a cusco 2 way LSD.

If you want an LSD you just change the whole diff, OR rip it out, strip it down and bolt the LSD centre to the crown wheel and reassemble. Be careful with torque settings on reassembly - you're best off getting a professional to rebuild it for you.
