21yo - about to approach my 1st anniversary with the car

brought it because i needed wheels to shift house 1200kms and couldn't be farked paying for removalists

fell in love

I shouldnever have to purchase another vehicle again

theory was

and still is as its standing up quite well

The lower aged memebers are predominantly the ones doing major mods

be it engine

body whatever

as the more "mature" memebrs of the board view it as a normal car

its not in all cases apparently, but in most as you see here

also that 98.543523 of you bought it as a family/work car or so

i think im the only one that bought it to build a high performance track car out of it lol

i was just wondering why all my extreme ideas were always taken so weirdly

yeah .. but dont forget your Stag isnt really your daily driver.

I think having a car you can mod that is NOT your dialy is a better option

sure I would like to get a bit more power and better handling out of the stag... but its a nice cruiser and I dont want to ruin that

all my cars are DD

my cedric has more mods than the stag and i drive it everyday

and its lower

ive never had a non DD

stag is down right now because im tryign to design an effective brake cooling system

Um, I think you will find that most of the reactions to your "extreme" ideas (well, my reactions anyway) is because you seem to be intent on making a sports car out of something that was never designed to be a sports car. Most of the people on here realized that and are planning their mods appropriately. Not to say there isn't some wildly modiifed Stageas here (Heck, 605bhp at the wheels is wild in any car - Go Brad!) but the general consensus here is that first and foremost the Stagea is "a functional yet comfortable touring wagon" and not too many people I know are gonna go crazy over stupid amounts of lowering / extended exhausts / stretched tyres etc etc etc.

When you get right down to it, Australians do a LOT more kilometeres in their cars than the japanese do (average 10-15 000 kms per year as opposed to 25-25 000 kms per year) so I think it forces us to be a lot more coherent in the way that we plan and execute our mods, and how they affect the practicality of the vehicle and I for one think this is a good thing.

zo are you going to tell all the guys with chasers and other 4 doors that drift, and build them that they arent sports cars as well?

that are built to be race cars

all comes down to budget and personal preference / circumstance

No, I am not talking about 4 door cars at all. This is the country that built the fastest 4 door car in the world for almost 30 years and our premier racing category is based exclusily around 4 door cars.

The Stagea, by the factory definition, is a touring wagon, not a sport wagon. Besides, name one single racing division devoted to station wagons anyway....

As for the distances travelled, I was talking about avererages, not personal distances. I could start quoting highway patrol figures by the Australian police that run to 550 000kms a year, but why bother? It is national averages we are talking about here.

Don't get me wrong dude, I do not wish to put you down in any way. Its the diversity of car modifiers that makes any car scene so fun, and I learn more watching someone go about something that I think is ludicrous, as I do watching someone do something that I am likely to try myself. The crux of what I am saying is, if someone here in Australia tried to do the things to a Stagea that you are doing, the car would last about 30 seconds before it was involved in an accident, was pulled over by the police, or had a catastophic failure.

And the Forrester as a race car?? WTFBBQ????? I shot coffee out of my nose all over my keyboard just reading that. Please tell me that was a joke.

there are a few companies her ein japan and in the US that specialize in foresters nad outbacks

they are extremely potent

there are even forester STi models as well

I'm with Dale on this one, Grant.

Saying that an STi-specced Forester is a "race car" is a bit far-fetched. It is still just a lifted WRX with some extra mods tacked on from the factory's performance arm, and it is still meant for the street. If it was truly meant for racing, they would be using Foresters instead of WRXs in the WRC, etc.

Sure, there might be other examples along similar lines to these, such as TRD Caldinas, BMW M3 and M5 Tourings, Audi S4, RS4, S6 and RS6 Avants, and the various Merc AMG estates, but they're still just road cars modified for maximum on-road performance.

yokotas13 how many performance mods did your stagea have and power? i didnt think it was anything over the top was it?

I prefer to do it different to the usual gtr crowd and try things that people say "oh that wont work, too heavy, wagon blah blah".

Ill be giving the stagea a go around the racetrack and see how good it is, it handles really really good for a heavy wagon thats for sure.

i thought the exact same thing.

and the forrester STi is no different, thats like saying a 260RS is a race car.

didnt grants stagea only have (or plan on having) stupidly low suspension, which keep in mind is the worst thing you can do for handling, throws out the centre of gravity, diff angles, etc, and wide low offset rims, which again will just put undue stress on the hubs, etc and affect handling by tramlining and the like.

pps. i'm 20 and sometimes drive a stagea. (when im allowed :))

I'm 24 and am new to the Stagea car.

I plan to use it for work and play -

Work being carting a drumkit or photography gear/clients. Play would be carting the Mountain Bike around or motoring around town and tearing it up on the road out to Wollombi. It will also be my daily hack. :) As for modding, I do plan to do the 'garden variety' mods such as exhaust, intake, boost, FMIC, etc... as well as finish the bodykit by adding a wing and eyelids.

The main reasons I bought the Stagea is they are rare as rocking horse sh!t around here and they're one of the few grey imports that are practical for my lifestyle. :)

Well Grant, if nothing else, I have noticed that your posts seem to spark the most heated discussion of anyone in this Stagea forum. I enjoy the show every time :)

I personally don't like the path you have taken with your car, but I have great respect for the fact that you are challenging convention in doing so.

That said, your writing style can come across as quite confrontational, which seems to me to be the reason you spark so much discussion.

Merely my observations and opinions, for what they're worth. :)

i read your post again and it does sound pretty silly, u think u are the only one who bought it to be a high performance car. How about spend less on visual/show parts and buy some engine mods. You mean u want yours to "look" like a high performance car. Ive spent about 4 times the price of my stagea again on performance mods and havent even touched the rims or any bodykits or stuff that doesnt make it faster, or perform better. RBNT and rb26stagea have done the same so i dont know how u can think your lightly modded rb25 is the only performance built stagea.

i agree with rb26stagea your opinions do come across as confrontational
