a20089
Not sure there's a great demand for the BBQ, maybe save it for a cruise to a picnic spot? Saying that if most people coming would like to have a BBQ, I'll try and find someone to run it. sl33py
Hey John, I spoke to you about half an hour ago I'm in with my R33 GTST, and I *might* talk my brother into bringing his Integra VTIR. Will send the moola shortly! Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/181533-dyno-day-22-september-2007-saturday/page/3/#findComment-3321253 Share on other sites
towlie
Sorry for the noob question - but can anyone confirm if there will be a printout rather than just on screen display and explain the basic run through of the set up and whats involved? Have attended dyno days before as a spectator but never payed too much attention to the precautions, whats required of the car and what not.... Cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/181533-dyno-day-22-september-2007-saturday/page/3/#findComment-3321906 Share on other sites
sl33py
You rock up, make sure you're paid up, get a place on the list, make sure you line up ur car when it's meant to be dyno'ed, stand back and watch them rev. Get your print out (I've never seen a dyno day without print-outs, please confirm John), you look at your printout and go 'hey! xxx kw, not bad!' and then 1 week later you wonder what you can do for more power Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/181533-dyno-day-22-september-2007-saturday/page/3/#findComment-3322395 Share on other sites
Cristian
Sorry for the noob question - but can anyone confirm if there will be a printout rather than just on screen display and explain the basic run through of the set up and whats involved? Have attended dyno days before as a spectator but never payed too much attention to the precautions, whats required of the car and what not....Cheers Hey Towlie, Yes you will get a printout. We do a quick check to make sure the car doesnt run lean then we do 2 power runs and give you a print of the power. The print will display power, you AFR and Boost. If you would like to know anything else just ask. sl33py
Cristian, RE the printouts - I've seen some with kW/AFR/Nm plotted against RPM and speed. Engine speed doesn't really mean too much to me (mechanical neophyte), whereas RPM does. And the last dyno I had was kW + AFR vs RPM. Ideally I'd like kW + Nm vs RPM. Car's stockish, so don't care about boost, feels like it's holding fine to redline. Is that a viable combo? leech_
For me personally i think KW + AFR vs Boost is great for anyone wanting to see how safe there mixtures are and if it's over boosting. In saying that it is also cool to know how much torque your car is making and at what RPM your car is no longer making peak power, speed means nothing as far as i am concerned. sl33py
Cristian: Cool, I'll remind you. I agree leech, but the only mod I've got is full exhaust/cat and it's been running healthy for the past 2 years (yes!: *yawn*), so chances of overboosting are pretty much zip More interested in torque this time. When I do my first proper mod (ECU in the next 6 months), then I'll wanna know AFRs again Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/181533-dyno-day-22-september-2007-saturday/page/3/#findComment-3323949 Share on other sites
leech_
i know what you mean see i am at the first stage putting a new turbo back exhaust that's why i want to just check all my mixtures and boost Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/181533-dyno-day-22-september-2007-saturday/page/3/#findComment-3324011 Share on other sites
Cristian
This is what our dyno prints look like for most cars that we run It will give you an idead of what yours will look like Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/181533-dyno-day-22-september-2007-saturday/page/3/#findComment-3324178 Share on other sites

leech_
that's a great sheet covers everything stupid question but how does the dyno know what your tacho is reading. I understand the speed would be easy as the rollers will tell you that but yes bit lost on the rpm. I understand the speed would be easy as the rollers will tell you that but yes bit lost on the rpm. RPM is generally picked up from 3 different places depending on the type of car. It will either come from: A plug lead Injector -ve side of coil For a skyline, will come from the injector easiest way.
