I currently have a 4" Zaust with no Cat and no resinator, while it sounds great I am wanting my car to be legal.

I was looking at just getting a 4" Cat but not sure what to get Ceramic or Metal (whats the Diff)

I have called a few shops they have said I should get a hi flow Cat 3.5" and make it a 4"

I have Stainless Dupms and front pipes but Mild back from where the Cat will be.

any ideas are appreciated.

Cheers

I guess a ceramic cat would have better heat conducting properties than metal. Ceramic will retain more heat, meaning the gas passing through it moves faster, meaning your turbo (if you have one) can spool quicker. Same idea with NA RB's too.

Ceramic sounds good, but if metal does the job you need if for, and is cheaper, then forget ceramic cats.

you got it backwards ^

stainless internals on the metal cat provide better flow, less restriction....also cost more

ceramic are cheaper to buy, dont flow quite as well, therefore more restriction.

edit: i'm pretty sure Magic Cat make a 4 inch metal cat
