got a question for ya's

i have a type 4 daughter board in my r34.

I know that the daughter board has its own EEPROM that we can change the values in while tuning in nistune software. And the original ECU's EEPROM stays unchanged, we just tell the ECU to read from our new EEPROM. Is this correct?

If this is correct, could i tune my car on pump fuel 98, then take the hex file from the daughter board's EEPROM and burn it into the original ECU's EEPROM, then re-tune the daughter board as usual on e85 fuel? then i just have to run a couple of switch wires from the jumper pins on the original ECU to the dash and i have instant capability to drive on either fuel.

But is it even possible to burn a new image into the original ECU?

and can anyone see any major flaws in my idea?

Nah that wouldn't work, Just have the laptop handy.

Are the daughterboards for 32GTSt and 32GTR the same?

Reason I am asking is I am looking at Nistuning my 32gtst but if I max out my z32 afm, I am wondering if I can swap the daughterboard in to a 32GTR ECU and get a GTR image loaded on there ? (and then run a GTR engine harness and twin afm's)

use a ford lighting maf.

If the resistance is correct they will,If you go low impedance you need resistor.

Yeah they're low impedence and I'm aware of needing resistors but was just flicking through the Nistune website and it mentioned 800cc's being about the limit..

What Fuel are you using? Petrol is a bit tough but can be done, E85 with those injectors is easy.

Yeah petrol for now, only looking for 500rwhp but later down the track (after I have put some more pumping power into the fuel system) I was thinking about E85 for track days.

Just wasn't sure whether it was a timing restriction or something that limited you to 800cc..

My setup is:

RB30DET (R32 RB25DE head)

Stock DE cams

GT35R (0.82 exh)

6boob mani

50mm progate

1000cc Rochester inj.

Stock rail and reg (hopefully)

1x 044 in tank

z32 afm (for now, until it maxes)

Will Nistune be able to run this setup nicely? Basically trying to decide whether to sell my Haltech and Nistune it, or keep the Haltech.

It's my track toy so the Haltech has some nice features (rotational idle would be cool) but they're not really needed, could sell it and utilise the money elsewhere..

Cheers for the help!

If I was starting from scratch Id have saved the coin and used Nistune but as you have the Haltech Id keep it. Im using Platinums in most racecars now but the E11s are still very good. 1000cc injectors are good for well over 500rwhp with E85 so its only the delivery that would need updating.

Question.

I have r33 gts.

Mods: r34 cooler, hi flow turbo, splitfire coil pack, exhaust, pod, turbotech T boost controller.

How much would it approximately cost $$$$ to get nistune and approx $$$ to get it tuned in Victoria? Just rough estimate what i need so i know if its worth it.

Im running MINES ecu but if its worth it, might upgrade.

Thanx in advance.

The Haltech came with my Stagea (which will be getting Nistuned soon so VCT and the auto work properly) so I have a bit of flexability there and I guess a couple of extra 044's and a surge tank would be the go when it comes E85 time.

Cheers for the advice! :P

A full tune including installation of the nistune unit would set you back around $800 I imagine, your mods aren't too extreme so they could start with a base map and go from there saving on tuning time. I'm sure you could get it cheaper but with tuning cheaper does not mean better, you are almost always better off spending the extra at a reputable tuner who does nistune ECUs regularly.

I think Dr. Drift in VIC is meant to be one of the better tuners for nistune, though anyone feel free to correct me.

Don't know if you saw Evans, (Quiet achiever on here) DR30 Racecar? Runs 1000cc and 2 044s on E85, makes 620rwhp with more left but the class runs 7inch radials so we could not use the power. 61sec laps on the long track. So 2x 044s will do you fine

Oh very nice :P

Get a decent cooler before an ecu remap, the r34 cooler is not much better than std.

Hi!

I wouldn't say that the R34SMIC is not much better.

It's clearly not as big as a FMIC but depending on your setup it's a good alternative to the standard R33 SMIC.

R34 vs R33

Not everyone wants to run a front mount (police), but thank you for your input, even tho that's not what i was asking...

Why? its junk unless you drive like a 100yo or run std boost. we have tested them over and over for stubborn people who were told online they were a decent upgrade.... they arent. A decent return flow front mount cooler (no cop issues) will allow just about unlimited hard driving before heat soak occurs.... the r34 one needs little more than half a lap or a few spirited runs in the hills before its transformed into a inter warmer.
