Ok, third time lucky! These are the 666DAN blue LEDs at night. My apologies for the pic quality! The needles are actually quite visible at night, although nowhere near as bright as the numbers. For reference, the boost guage on the a-pillar is an autometer lunar series....

It's a little bit of rice, which is against everything I preach. But it does look really cool IMO!

Are they the stock S1 dials? Bloody things are difficult to read, especially without a rheostat. It looks like you have the answer.

Where do you get them and how hard to fit?

666DAN on these forums supplied them for........?? Can't remember, but I think around $35 for the dash, climate control and white LEDs for park lights. Got a tech to install them - took about an hour, I think. And yes, they are the stock dials, because I couldn't find any white ones...

I have just ordered my set of them, they look great Micah nice work! I have bought the same kit but with the 3 guage cluster set, A/C unit and i got matching bulbs for my Greddy boost guage.

I really hoped mine would be here before the weekend as i have all tomorrow to play with my baby :) but they didn't arrive  shattered...

I am going to take photos of a step by step installation guide for if any one is interested. I have seen a few guides for skylines and such but not a specific stagea one.

Oh one more thing 666DAN is getting married so he will be away/too busy over the next few months to get the orders filled for these so i suggest if you want some that you order now or within the next week or so.

Cya peeps

hmmmm. I had no idea you could replace the guage bulbs. This may the solution to my dliemma: I have 2 Mearcat guage pods, which hold a total of 3 guages, and I want everything in the interior to match as much as possible. Excellent work Paul. Muchos Gracias.

Yeah id love white guage faces aswell... i think its just the series 2 that has the white dials, surely can't be that hard to come across. Also i have seen white faces for the center guages aswell.

If anyone knows of a souce other than trying to interperit japanese on the yahoo auctions site please leme know.

Cheers

Well ive just installed mine and ive gotta say... im pretty bloody disapointed i have checked all globes put everything in where it is supposed to and it just looks crap... they light coming from the guages would be atleast 50% less bright than the stock globes.

I am going to try and contact DAN to see if there is anything else i can do to increase their brightness. I installed the three bulbs into my center gauge pods and they looked FANTASTIC really bright and blue and i was really expecting the same thing with the Dash lights, but its so dul and hardly even illuminates the top numbers on both the speed and tac.

CRAP! might have to go to a full EL cluster setup.

bizarre. Mine are much brighter than the standard bulbs. Could have been a bad/incorrect batch of LEDs...??

Yeah im not sure what the difference is... I might have to do a bit more of a custome job i think and pull the thing apart and mount some bigger LEDs inside and connect them to the plugs via some cable. Pain in the arse job but might be worth it. Can't keep it the way it is. I might be looking into the EL Guage cluster setup, i know of a company that will produce them for you if you can get 20 people together... 20 is a lot though. Will see

The DIY i did while installing mine is here http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=183421

Cheers

Paul, just had a look at your DIY thread, you've got the same type of cluster as a series 2 R34.

No matter what you do, you'll never get blue to work with it unfortuantely :D

Red is the only option for that type of dash.

Yeah bit of a bugger but thems the breaks :) all car stuff is like that. I am going to try and get some EL-Glow gauges made up. Only problem is i need to get 20 people together in order to get them constucted which may be a little hard.

I had a thought of using the same bulbs you gave me for the parkers S10s or something like that. I solder into the standard S5 plugs some cable that runs down closer to the back of the guage and solder on the S10s.... what ya think? worth trying or a waste of time?

I will need to really pull the whole cluser appart to have a look.

Oh btw one of the LEDs you sent me does not work can i swap?

Cheers

Hmm, yeah brightness will depend on the value of the resistor used, if you are not using a 12v led..

I tried this on my R33 with good success, but I didnt like the bright on one spot, and dim on the other way that it comes up..

To get past this I used a set of 10mm led's they have a wider angle, as normal led's are usually not very wide. the 10mmled's fit in nicely, and do the job..

However soon after that my tacho started playing up (common R33 problem have seen it happen on a few cars)

So i just put in a R33GTR dash, which works great.

Try different resistors, or try get some wider angle led's. Use something like 1kOhm resistor, that should make the led's run at about ~ 20mA which is ideal
