i bought an s13 digi climate control which had a loom modified to suit a31...

it works... however... not entirely

lights up... but temp control doesnt work

fan does... and everythingelse... just when i adjust the temp it doesnt go hot or cold... just stays cold

loom is dodgey

I've considered attempting this with either S13 or R32 digital units, but I just don't have the time at the moment, and a few other more important issues on my car have priority (suspension/brakes etc).

I'd be keen to see the article, even if just for the pinout diagrams

s13 is a lot closer match (in fact if you have the digital sub-loom, it looks like it'll plug in straight up)

r32 would be a lot of custom rewiring

Is the page blurry or is it the photo?

I can make out most of the writing, but 18, 19, 20 are a bit fuzzy, looks like CN2-13, CN2-8 and CN2-7 respectively. Please confirm?

The jap symbols next to 8 of the pins I'm assuming means not used (or nothing connected).

Though the symbols next to pin 1 I could hazard a guess it means something like wire to constant 12V or something.

Only other thing is you have to rewire a couple other points on the S13 to make it work, I'm could only assume something similar would have to happen in the cefiro.

daisu are you a wiring junky?

i have my loom here... as stated above i can adjust the fan control and it lights up and everything works... apart from aircon controls, alternating which type of setting the aircon is on (footwell, head, footwell/head/ etc) and the temp controls - dont work... obviously some wiring needs to be fixed

i could send it to you if you want to use it as something to work off and make a duplicate for yourself?

only condition is you fix mine so it works :D

Only problem with messing around trial and error with the digital units, is you can damage the circuitry, then you don't know if the wiring it incorrect or not. This happens on the S13s when people plug the digital unit into their unmodified analogue looms, it lights up, i'm not sure if you get fan control or not, but it also permanently damages one of the functions like fresh/recirc or something. I can't be stuffed looking at the S13 guide right now.

I think I'll try on my own loom first, then when I'm sure I know what I'm doing I'll let you know how to do it.

Either that or softy will do it

  • 3 years later...

Hi All, I have just purchased a Nissan Cefiro 92 and the auto climate control unit failed first day and is stuffed. Before getting online I found that my r32 digital climate control unit plugs in by two of the three Ceffy plugs, however as the cefiro has a third additional plug it obviously won’t work without mods.

I have read everything I can find however I am not getting much of an understanding as to what wires go where to convert the a31 auto climate to the r32 digital climate control unit.

Is there a post i have missed that outlines in English solder this colour wire to that spot???

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I got caught in the rain and the fan won’t go to demist mode + air con won’t turn on so it sucks.

daisu has repined and soldered his to work but he wont/cant post up the pin outs.... the japanese scans just confuse me every time i try to work it out >_<

ca s13 unit will work

So i thought all s13 have 2 plugs not the three like i have on mine? have i missed some thing are ca 3 plug ?

    • I know this one’s the BB one. My tuner did make mention about the actuator. I am curious about the VCT as well
    • Might also needs a stronger actuator with the right preloading. With older 2019 built bush G3 units, BB upgrade or 21U housing down size makes a pretty decent gain in response as well.
    • Hey lads  so im finally putting together my rb30 forged bottom end and ran into an issue. I measured my main bearing clearance with arp main studs torqued to 60 ft-lbs using ACL H series STD size bearings and standard, un-ground crank shaft journals and got an oil clearance reading of about 1.3 thou measuring straight up and down and about 2.8 thou measuring at a 45 degree angle (just above and below the parting line). My machine shop said they measured the main tunnel and it was all within spec (they didnt say the actual measurement) and to go with a standard size bearing, which i have done and the clearance is too tight, I'm guessing because of the extra clamping force from the arp studs distorting the main tunnel. I was wanting to run about 2.5 thou main bearing clearance.  My questions are: 1. could i just use the HX extra 1 thou clearance ACL bearings? that would fix my straight up and down clearance making it about 2.3 thou, but then would the side to side clearance be too big at around 3.8 thou? 2. what actually is the recommended main bearing clearance for measuring near the parting line / side to side. i know its supposed to be bigger as the bearing has some eccentricity built into it but how much more clearance should there be compared to the straight up and down measurement? at the moment there is about 1.5thou difference, is that acceptable or should it be less? 3. If i took the engine block + girdle back to the machine shop and got them to line bore the main tunnel (like i told them to do the first time, but they said it didnt need it) what bearing size would i buy? the STD size bearing shells already slide in fairly easily with no real resistance, some even falling out if i tip the girdle up-side-down. If im taking material out of the main tunnel would i need a bearing with extra material on the back side to make up for it? this is probably confusing af to read so if something doesn't make sense let me know and ill try explaining in a different way. My machine shop doesn't come back from christmas break until mid January, hence why i'm asking these questions here. TIA for any help or info
    • I bought the model back in Japan in Feb. I realised I could never build it, looked around for people who could build it, turns out there's some very skilled people out there that will make copies of 1:1 cars or near enough. I'm not really a photo guy... but people were dragging me in a group chat for the choice of bumper as someone else saw the car before it was finished as they are also a customer of that shop. I took the photo in the above post because I was pretty confident that the lip would work wonders for it. Here's some more in-progress and almost-done pics. It gives a good enough idea as to what the rear looks like!   I have also booked in a track day at the end of January. Lets all hope that is nothing but pure fun and games. If it's not pure fun and games, well, I've already got half an engine spare in the cupboard
    • Well, do ya, punk? Seriously though, let's fu<king go! The colour and kit looks amazing on the car. Do you have any shots from the rear? I don't quite follow how the model came around. You bought the white kit and he modified it to match your car? Looks nuts either way!
