Hey,

I currently have a 'Hks Silent, Hi-powered' cat-back exhaust system. I was reading an old thread about Wilch doing up his car and people were suggesting extending the exhaust first, from the turbo back.

I've been wanting to do this for a while, however, i don't know a lot about exhausts. What would be best to get done? I love the sound of this exhaust at the moment, but would love for it to improve and increase the power a bit also, ready for future modifications.

Also, where to get it done?

It's a '98 R33 S2.

All suggestions will be appreciated.

Cas.

I've had 2 exhausts (on 2 separate turbo nissans) installed at AAA exhausts down at richmond and am pretty happy with their work. I'm no expert though, I just know they're priced reasonably and my exhaust sounds nice. (3" stainless, hi-flow cat, 2 mufflers) ;)

Look in the for sale section, people are always selling dump/front pipes and you will save alot of money buying one 2nd hand then buying one new, as for the cat if you don't have a highflow one try the Just Jap high flow cat there like $160 delivered for sau member and alot of people from here have used them on there cars and said they work perfectly.

But if you want something made up you can't go past Exhaust Technology on goodwood road hes a bit pricey but you get what you pay for and his work is top notch.

i live the next road over from deacon avenue (AAA Exhausts)

they do a bang up job. All the mechanics in the are reccomend highly. I was in there the other day and they quoted me $50 for a cat back install. $1400 for a complete stainless 3" system (from the turbo) so their prices a reasonable.

Definately keep them in mind.

$1400 is reasonable? :glare:

marky at ET did my custom twin flute junBL system for a touch under $900, $250 for front/dump pipe and used a gutted out stock cat. thats using JunBL stuff which is very pricey, the lukey system was around the $600 mark for catback.

all in all, AAA know how to make systems, only reason i would pick marky to do it is he's had tonnes of experience with imports and knows what exhaust goes with what the best, he gets all his bends and piping from AAA anyway so u are paying a premium, but still, they do good work down there.

Go split dump & front pipe (>single 3" dump/front pipe). There's plenty off the shelf items & for value for money - hard to go by something like the -> Just Japs item. Also, recommend Metal or Catco's barrell type cat as they'd still be the highest legal flowing ones around.

I thought $1400 sounded just a little too much myself.

^^

$1400 was a good price installed without haggeling them down. The bloke did say come in when im ready and they will do a deal.

Id probably just get something off Justjap and get AAA or my local mechanic to fit it for me (give it a crack myself first though)

exhausts are easy as piss to put in if uve got the patience and can be screwed getting under a car, ive changed a few without even jacks, and considering my car is lowered its not fun, but considering its saving urself $100, its worth it.

a jack then would have helped and you still would have saved 100 dollars. EDIT: and 3 hours lol.
