An absolutely awesome weekend, huge thanks to the organisers and timers on the day. I got a little burnt but not too badly so hopefully all the marshalls survived.

Car was going well but will see how it was really going with the times.

Tom, Gareth, Tash, Nathan and myself went to the FPV DECA today for an hour or so. A very different setup to the SAU ones. They use the back track but not the basketball court and have the end garage about 100 metres past where our one is normally (they were running it the opposite way to our one yesterday). This would make for interesting finishing with an uphill garage.

The courses were very tight and anyone who has done the Moorabin Airport Motorkhanas, the courses are very similar to that. Super tight, low speed and only using a small part of the skid pan. I would say there were about 20-25 competitors there in a variety of Utes and Falcons of different ages.

Drive back was pretty uneventful except for the toaster van carrying at least 3 sheep! Had a great shot lined up with the side window but the sheep moved as I took it! :laughing-smiley-014:

Awesome weekend, catch you all soon.

Few pics below to get started with from my phone.

Awesome weekend. I feel like arse at the moment, but was well worth it.

Some nice pole dancing by me too haha.

Highlight for me was at Rawhide when Brendan spat beer up into the Taco of Mercedes :P And the happy feet dance!

There is so much funny shit that happened, I'm definately up for the next one even if I aren't competing.

Thanks organisers and volunteers!!! And fozboy for driving my car home while I was asleep.

I wish I could've stayed for sat night fun and I hope that the two birthday boys had a good one!

Nylate is a fast car.

Chris' tx5 is bloody cool also.

Other Chris, scotsman ... doesn't take long at all to get back into vision on the straight of long wang after going over the crest.

Michael, white r33... awesome steerer.

And Al and James seem to be so much faster than they used to be in the evos. Much more aggresive... I like that :P

I saw people taking pics when I delaminated some tyres - I wanna see those.

Ooooo. what a weekend!

Firstly, thanks again to Andrew, Chris and all the volunteers for running another professional production. DECAs are always tight on time and with some things like water on the track, it makes things that much tighter.

Thanks to Paul and Ash (and for a brief time Adz) for the BBQ. Another ace effort in feeding all the hungry competitors and spectators.

Thanks to Taco Baz and all his lovely staff for putting up with us again. I think they all have as much fun as we do when we invade the shop. The chicks there were great and a special mention this time for helping Ryan, Evan, Al and I celebrate our birthday with a tequila shot and a box of chocolates! That was the first shot I've had in about 3 years and possibly the first tequila shot I've done since the 90s!!! If it wasn't for the worm getting stuck in my throat halfway down, I reckon I would have got the whole lot down. Thanks also to the lovely staff for getting us into the Aussie Bar with the hats. If it wasn't for the inside connections, I'm sure we would have all been rejected again.

Memorable moments include:

My first run round the Long Wang after Snowy's speech about how quick the track was going to be. I guess some people just will never listen

Bart Simpson, Flanges and 3-2-1-GOOOOOOOONE!

The chicks celebrating a birthday next door to TB's loved us too after we kindly donated a few hats to their birthday cause. At least 1 of them were pretty decent.

The poor bugger who got pulled over outside TB's by the chick cops. Usually we're trying to avoid police but this time, we all flocked to the divey van like moths to a flame before being told rather harshly to move and carry on about our own business.

That's about it for now, I'm sure I'll think of more things as the week drags on.

Oh, and Tony, even though Mav may have been quicker than you in your car, your drifting looked 1000% better and you're lucky Mav didn't break your car :P

Man what a awesome DECA.

Thanks to all that helped run and make this event what it is today.

Best memory was last night when at the Yahoo Bar when I had a cop tell me that the other SAU guys were waiting for us at rawhide. I was expecting to be told someone had just been arrested for nudie runs.

Thanks again all :P

Evan,

    • People still have Skylines? I thought they're non-existent now.
    • Harness update time have had great fun and learnt so much already so far with this project. I started off making both the ignition and injector sub harnesses in the hope any mistakes i made here aren't as hard to undo and learn from as the main harness.  A cool comparison of the old harness using presumably TXL wire and the new which is using Tezel. Also opted to use DTM plugs to keep the whole setup as neat and tidy as possible and tucked the wiring under the coil bracket to try and keep it all from sticking out too much. Although the injector harness, I'm not overly happy with as I'm still using the rubber boots that are supplied with the type of plugs it just looks ugly and sticks out like a sore thumb with the white identifiers so a slight redesign may be done.   Then it was main harness time and most importantly trying to route it nice and away from the heat it will use the OEM heater hose routing which is no longer present to keep the harness up high and secure. it's amazing how much smaller this harness is able to be compared to the old one. plugged everything into the emtron and with the help of the tuner again attempted to start it up and instantly fired up and running smoothly on all 6 which was a big shock to myself. So still some routing and adjusting to be done for the final fit up and installing a knock sensor harness plug which is in the post all has gone surprisingly well.     The old harness for shits and giggles.
    • They do that at random every now and then, with almost no detectable cause. Mine has done it a couple of times (over 25 years!!). Never worked out why.
    • I don't post on here and have been lurking for some time now. Many of the topics have helped me out more times than i can count. I was racing yesterday (11/9) and blew a front right CV shaft. I have spares so I popped a new one in. A thread i read previously said to check the engine mounts if you blow a front CV. Upon inspection, the front right mount was completely separated from the upper plate. This discovery saved me time and money, because i would have blown another CV if i went back out. Just wanted to thank you guys and wish everyone luck with with their builds. (Now if we could only come up with a solution for my power steering belt flying off after hitting the rev limiter, lol)
    • Either way he still need those style of spacer to go into the manifold because the photo he currently has is not going to work
