Hey

Recently been attempting to rectify an issue with the heating in my R32.

It seems to not adjust temperature from hot to cold, or vise versa, it just holds one constant temperature no matter what the unit is set on.

I ran it in that diagnostics mode and didn't mean shit to me, so I gave up.

I did a little test yesterday, I started off by bleeding the heating system and thats all fine, water is flowing fine through there.

I then checked the radiator hoses to see if they where the correct temperatures, that was fine, bottom one cold, top one hot, and hot water is feeding through under the manifold through that heater pipe.

BUT

The heater hoses on he firewall are dead cold. They have water in them it feels like, but it is not warm. I'm assuming thats why my heating is not working, but why isn't the hot water flowing into the heater core is my question?

I tried it when the car was cold, idled till it was at operating temperature, even drove it hard so it was well into operating temperature and still the heater hoses where cold.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Abu

Sounds like a problem I was have at the start of the year. There's a motor near the back of your dash which controls the hot/cold, but before you go and check to see whether it's stuffed, try holding down the 'heat' button for like 10-15secs or until the sign 'FH' appears. If you still get no change in temperature, it's your valve.

Let me know.

Hey Adam!

Tried that FH trick last time, unfortunately no change. What does this mean?

Thanks,

Abu

It could be your connecting rod which has disconnected off the hot/cold flap.

Common problem on the skylines and an easy fix.

Look at the footwell of the front passenger area.

Look up under the dash (behind the headunit)

There should be a metal threaded rod which moves side to side. This should be attached to a plastic clip.

Where abouts do you live again?

I can drop by and have a look around for ya

Shoot us a PM if you can be stuffed

Hi Patrick

I am from Hallam man, probably about 20 - 30 minutes from you.

Connecting rod hey, I will have to take a look when I get back from work, if I have any issues I will send you a PM.

Do you I have to pull the centre console surround out and the headunit etc? Or can I just see up from the foot well? Cant picture it right now in my head, but will make more sense when I take a look at it when I get home.

I get what you mean though.

Thanks,

Abu

You'll be able to see the motor from the passangers foot well. It should be at the back of where the headunit and that would be. Depending on where Pat lives, I can check it out for you. I'm in the Dandenong area.

Just give me a PM if you need any help.

The 'FH' is 'fast hot' or something like that. It should ignore the sensors and just throw out as much hot air as possible, but you said nothing happens so it's probably your motor. Make sure you did this while your car was warm :D
