Has anyone seen the front page of todays Manly Daily.

Someone in a ECR33 smashed into a ute in Belrose last night. It is estimated he was doing double the speed limit at the time.

It was a 17 year old P Plater.

Now I never really post on these forums, but I just had to jump on here and post this up.

Every time someone pull's a hero move like this it effects the whole community, it justifies the attention P platers get from the Police.

Please slow down guys.. Take it to the track.

I think it's just that area between ForestWay and Terry Hills; long straight roads, flat and rarely patrolled by police - kinda like WSID without the extra kms.

This has been the 3rd major accident I've heard of in that area in the last year. Last two involved another Skyline and a motorcycle...

Don't people learn?

Another farking tool who spoils it for the rest of us

Hope he gets locked up.

They only fined him.. Apparently they could not accurately judge the speed he was going.

I was driving through the back streets of French's Forest in my gtst a few weeks ago, and some guy in a R31 decided to cut sick behind me. His drifto display was credable, but it was so not the right place for it. He lost control of the car, and missed a set of parked car's by less than half a meter.

Steven, you can be sure there are still plenty of P-Platers driving turbocharged imports despite the new laws.

This no doubt means there are alot of uninsured idiots cruising the streets that you really want to keep your distance from.

Yeah since that guy killed the couple on the Great Western Hwy recently i've noticed a lot LESS hooning compared to normal. I got my R33 like a week after that incident and not ONCE has anyone tried to race me in the weeks since! Guess the majority of us are mature about our cars, but it takes a handful of knobs to destroy our rep instantly.

True. I've seen a few P's with V8 utes too.

Thats just stupid... Is that law even enforced?

Maybe its my plates, or the combinationt of stock rims and exhaust, I reall don't know, but no one EVER wants to drag me... One time i was asked, on some back rural street, flat road and straight as an arrow, I still said no... I probably would have had my ass handed to me anyway :)

How did you notice less people trying to race you if you didnt own the car before the incident? :)

You're right though, the majority of us are responsible. Its the usual deal that a few wankers make the name for the rest of us.

i was challenged one 4 seperate occasions on sunday whilst driving to street race, and its ridiculous how people think its ok to race on the street.

save it for the track, these guys come out to a track day and will get their asses handed to them.....so what u can drag off at the lights, its not a matter who is faster or better, its a matter of how far ur willing to break the law...if ur dumber then the next guy, then u win....

is it just me or does that picture of the wreck look wrong.....bonnet folded like a tin can, front panels looked stripped, side pannels poped off, but no real impact damage....

Obviously hit the back of the ute. Tray crumpled the bonnet and ripped off one guard. Front bar probably still attached to the ute.

im a red p plater and 18 and drive a 33 ( non turbo )...sure p platers cause heaps of accidents like above but also there is alot of people on a full license ( that also have accidents ) that pull up beside me..its common sense to let it go and some p platers lack it.. trust me im not defending him he just made me a bigger target now if possible.

    • It's something we all have to consider as time marches on. Also consider lifted rally MX5 conversion at that point.
    • I should be fine for a few more years, whilst I do have arthritis I also exercise and do mobility training every day to keep as fit and healthy as I can, military life, which is the actual cause of most of my joint issues, has set daily regimes, which I weirdly enjoy I also train alot smarter now, not really focusing on lots strength or puffy muscles, I'm more focused on maintaining what I have for my future older self, I actually train as much mobility now as I do exercising Check out this "simple" drill I have been doing daily prior to training now for a while now, this has worked wonders in my all round mobility
    • I'd say one thing that may make you sell is the same reason the guy with the hard top roof sold his. He got old, and his back was giving him too much grief stopping him getting in and out... Old guy said he was 73! He looked and sounded younger than 73 to me! Or maybe I'm just aligning with old people more...
    • Already looked at a few prior to getting the MX5, really nice car, had all the mod cons, but I wasn't really sold on the new "look" I did miss my 2017 Limited, and I personally prefer the "look" of the older car over the new model, but, when pondering I kept going back looking at MX5's But it was same same for the new ND's, I wasn't sold on the new "look", especially the RF with its weird roof, which only half goes down, like a targa top sort of thing As I stated before, I did look at NC's, but the cars I looked at were PRHT's, but I didn't like their roof line "look" of the PRHT, until I saw the soft top version, (someone on SAU posted a for sale ad for one with a soft top that caught my attention, you can blame them for my choice.....🤣) and.... that old style detachable hard tops were available for them, which keeps the old MX5 more smoother flowing roof line, and the more rounded body style, similar to the NA-NB, to me, the arse end of the ND looks to "modern" Much like how I prefer the NC1 front bar, over the later models How long will I keep this car for is unknown, but currently, there's nothing else out there that "floats my boat" for a small, fun, little "sports car", that I can play with and enjoy looking at and driving But, who knows what the future holds, and going off current new car styling, if I replace it, it will be a older model something something
