Hey all

got hicas im my a31 and looking at removing it, ie all lines rack pump and shit

now

i would like to put powersteering back in it

can i use

Pump From S13CA bolted onto rb20 bracket, highpressure/low pressure oil lines from pump and resoivor from an s13 and also a s13/180sx non hicas powersteering rack?

now im just wondering if i could use these and the length of the highpressure line from the pump to the rack off an s13 would be the same length as an ca31 highpressure line?

anyone taken the hicas out of their ca31's and used this sorta setup ?

any help would be appreciated

cheers

This topic has been covered before,

basically after you remove everything hicas related you are left with a pump that has an extra outlet and a fluid reservoir that has an extra inlet.

Use a bit of low pressure line to connect the two and you are finished.

I would recommend using the opportunity to install a p/s fluid cooler from an R32 (it's just a piece of metal line that sits in front of the radiator). Buy a bit more low pressure hose and a couple clamps and connect it between your spare inlet/outlet on the pump/reservoir.

ahh ok

but the thing is i want to remove everything hicas related even the powesteering pump and replace it with a single chamber one the same as a CA/SR 180sx NON hicas Pump..

and also remove all the lines and shit , everything, and replace it, same as how some ceffys would have come out of the factory with no hicas...

thats why i wanted to know whether or not all this shit from a 180sx/s13 would change straight over, resevoir, the 2 lines, rack and pump  str8 into the ceffy

cheers

You need a hicas lock bar incase you didn't realise Mrlag.

It's a lot of effort to remove the hicas pump and replace it with a non hicas unit, and everyone here would recommend using it to have a power steering cooler. And besides the extra line you'd have going from the pump to the reservoir, you can still remove everything else.

But if you want to get rid of it fair enough.

I'm not entirely sure, but it sounds familiar the idea of using a CA pump on an RB bracket. Can't hurt to try.

As for the reservoir, not really sure at all. I'm sure you'd be able to make it bolt on.

There is no point in changing the steering rack over to a non hicas unit, the only difference is the hicas front rack has a connection block on it to join the hicas lines to each other. You don't need to plug the holes on the connection block as it is completely separate to the front system. If you were going to go that far you might as well find a non hicas rear cradle as opposed to fitting a hicas lock bar.

Nah it isnt a effort and i got a lock bar and my engine is out
