hey ppls

i just got a hicas lock bar put iin and drove it for a month or so before getting the wheels aligned and it felt fine. i just recently got new rear tyres and all 4 wheels aligned. no when im heavily accelarating the back of the car just starts to feel loose like it is wobbling on the road. it kicks in at about 100kph and as you keep going it get more and more disconserning. it feel like its going to just spin out all most.... i have also noticed that when i change lanes on the freeway that it will change then wobble back on forth a couple times also not the most comforting feeling... i have stock suspension and took it back to the place that i got the alignment done to get the to recheck it and camber and alignment was fine... so does any one have any ideas what it could be??

thanks dan

my bet is on inner or outer rack end bushing failure.

Tyres maybe? Are they oversized tyres for your rim? It might be soft sidewalls.

Could also be a softer compound tyre. I found going from cheap and rock hard tyres to toyo T1R's you could really feel the extra movement in the softer compound rubber.

not that i noticed... i had a look under it when it was on the hoist and couldnt see any bushes that look worn or deteriating

jack the car up on the rear, then grab hold of one of the rear wheels and push and pull it to see if there is any side to side movement. if there is then more than likely one or more of your rack ends needs replacing.

yeh i thought it could just be the new tyres, so i checked the pressure. and they are cheap tyres i always run cheap tyres as im not very nice to them... they are 225/50 on the stock R33 rim.

225/50/R16 Tyres are an oversized tyre for the stock 6.5" rim. You should notice that the tyre over hangs the edge of the rim a fair bit thus making the sidewall strength very soft.

Try pushing the on the side of the car while it's stationary and you can see how much movement there is in the sidewall. It should be a fair bit.

I'm not sure if this is your problem though.

what are the rear toe settings? this has caused me similar dramas many a time. I know you just got it aligned, but some alignment places have no idea or misread what you specified.

This is probably the best suggestion so far. OP said that the problem occurred when he got new tyres and an alignment, so looking at the tyres and alignment should be the first thing you do. If you have the alignment specs post them up for review.

I wouldnt go too cheap on tyres either - stuff like falken 452s and federal 595SS are reasonably cheap and quite decent. Think of how much you spend on petrol - an extra $50 a tyre is nothing.
