Hello everyone,

I feel really stupid, but.. where is the oil filter ? and how I can access it ? I tried to look from underneath of my car (Stagea S2 if it matters) but plastic guard covers alot and car sits low so I was able to see much. Tried to put car on the ramps but again - she sits low and front bumper prevents her from going on the ramps. Can anyone point me to the right direction please ?

PS Yes, I know, I know, fell stupid myself >_<))

LOL!

Drivers side of the engine block, about 2/3 of the way down. You WILL need to grow an extra elbow between the existing one and your wrist to remove it tho.

Haha! You probably seen it just didn't know exactly what you were looking for. I myself only recently did my own oil/oil filter change and I know it can be daunting especially when you don't have anyone to confirm what you're looking at.

It the cylindrical thing (usually blue) on the left side of the engine (if you're facing the engine bay) towards the bottom. You can access it from the top or bottom, I loosened mine from the bottom then took it out from the top. I'd recommend getting stands to jack you car on to if you're going to do a change yourself.

Thank you for prompt replies, guys, I will look at it again, probably on Friday :pwned: I am not a mechanic but I've changed few oil filters in my life and done simple things with my cars before (probably most "complex" thing that I've ever done was changing a head on my Fal*on's engine but boy ! there are SO MUCH room there under the bonnet ! ) What I am trying to say is that I know how oil filter (or, I'd better say, usually) looks like... :) - still, I was unable to find one (bashing my head against the wall)

JVP, there are different oil filter removal tools, I'got one.. well, it's sort of J-shaped. I will need fair amount of free space to use this toll. Or you are talking about something else ? Also, you mentioned extention, I've never used one before..

Any way, I'd give it a go again :)

my mate who is a mechanic by trade, has these really good ones that are like a claw, and they adjust to size of the oil filter, and on top of the handle, they have a connector for a longer extension bar. it cost him a bit, but its well worth the money. my guessing at the brand is snap-on.

maybe the car has a remote located filter???? if there are some hoses and an aluminium plate with fittings in it on the side of the drivers side of the engine block (located directly above the main crossmember) have a look where the hoses go an follow them till you find the filter.

repco do an AWESOME one! its got a 3/8ths square drive in the center and a ratchet mechanism that makes the 3 arms close over the filter. well worth it ! they normally come with rubber covers over the

arms .. and you sometimes need to remove those to get more grip

cost me $20 or something

keep going past the fuel filter and its there.. UNLESS.. you have an oil filter re-location kit!

its a fair way down towards the bottom of the engine bay and fairly difficult to see

Hm. Still unable to see "the cylindrical thing (usually blue) on the left side of the engine (if you're facing the engine bay) towards the bottom.":pwned:

Oh, ok. I'll try it on Friday (I hope). If I see nothing again then I'll put her on jack, remove the plastic sheild and have a proper look. "It's personal" :())) coz I feel really silly being unable to locate oil filter :D

you will piss it in ! get one of those tools.. a beer.. and follow down past the fuel filter and your in the right area.

mine had been put on by a rock ape.. and my whimpy IT hands couldnt budge it, but that repco tool saved the day.

I make my own beer so I have at least few dozens at home :D this is not an issue :() Repco tool - well, I'll try to undo that thing with my IT hands and, if I am not lucky, will jump on my workhorse and get the tool.

free beer? ! I'm in !

heres a pic of it (its the big blue thing on the plenum side of the motor). this pic is with a 2wd sump on, but with the 4wd sump on its hard to see from underneath as it sits directly above the front diff housing and when u dump the filter off its gonna spew oil everywhere so sit some rags on the top of the diff housing to soak up the oil.

much easier to get at mine than one in a RS4 :(

Same here :D Should know cause had to do an oil change this arvo....oil filter tool I got has a handle which pivots side to side. Pretty sure I picked it up from Supercheap Auto sometime ago. It might help the RS4 owners get into those tight spots.
