funkymonkey
So I've been given the opportunity to put in an OS Giken Twin Plate clutch in my R32 GTS4. I'm making about 200awkw, so nothing spectacular power wise. I'm getting it cheap so its almost worthwhile considering. What I want to know is that other than strong muscular pain in the leg that it causes while shifting, is it hard to use in a daily driver? Do any of you use it in a daily? Bliksem
well which os clutch? the Str2cd is designed for street so it should be fine Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/182899-os-giken-twin-plate-clutch-in-a-daily-driver/#findComment-3317384 Share on other sites
funkymonkey
yeah its the STR2CD jobber. The product specs say its for street use, but I've never met anyone running one in their daily, hence the hesitation. Don't want to regret putting it in afterwards. N1GTR
What I want to know is that other than strong muscular pain in the leg that it causes while shifting Harden up Mansoor (rukus) has one and swears by it - he reckons its easy to use Shaun (sh@un) had the exedy twin and found it ok, but could be better I say go for it Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/182899-os-giken-twin-plate-clutch-in-a-daily-driver/#findComment-3317832 Share on other sites
GTS-t VSPEC
I've had one in mine before and loved it OS make the best clutches IMHO. PT
I have the TR2CD (up spec from the TS2BD and released before the current model STR2CD) and mine is a daily driver, not heavy on the leg by any means and easier if anything to drive with compared to a 5 puk clutch Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/182899-os-giken-twin-plate-clutch-in-a-daily-driver/#findComment-3317859 Share on other sites
funkymonkey
so for question number 2... Theoretically the clutch and flywheel need to be balanced so that its not too heavy as a whole or too light that the flywheel degrades. when you guys put the twinny in did you get the matching flywheel from OS Giken or did you get a standard flywheel lightened or a lighter flywheel from another manufacturer? GTS-t VSPEC
Mine came with a lightened flywheel as part of it. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/182899-os-giken-twin-plate-clutch-in-a-daily-driver/#findComment-3317931 Share on other sites
Beer Baron
they all come with a flywheel monkey. you cannot use a twin plate with any other flywheel than what it comes with as the cage attaches to the flywheel. wrxhoon
BB is correct and they usualy have a mark on them (Like an arrow on the fly and the clutch) so you line them up . I use a Nismo twin, a little more user friendly than OS but is fine . I have the chance to purchase a barely used Nismo twin to replace the OS when it runs out of meat(not very long) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/182899-os-giken-twin-plate-clutch-in-a-daily-driver/#findComment-3319181 Share on other sites
wrxhoon
What model Nismo do you have wrxhoon? I have the chance to purchase a barely used Nismo twin to replace the OS when it runs out of meat(not very long) Nismo Super Coppermix twin 640ps, I'm using the Nismo larger slave with it as well. With all twin plate clutches you must not ride them , if you do you will wear them out real quick . Beer Baron
well I own an OS twin, but if I were buying a clutch today I'd get the nismo super coppermix twin. FATGTS-R
Got an os twin as well and its fine for daily duties. The 20 box blew so a 25 item went in with a larger slave and its not very heavy at all. I have more trouble getting in the other halfs N16 with stalling as I am used to the OS item with how much lighter it makes things as you only need a blip to take off.
