Im short on cash after buying my r33 gearbox which has done 51000 kms on an 97 motor, and dnt have enough money for a clutch now....the stock clutch is in great nick, and i was wondering if i should bother replacing it or not with the following mods done to my car:

94 r33 gts25t

3" exhaust

pod filter + cold air feed + box

FMIC

boost tap running 10psi

im converting from auto to manual.....the auto box seem to handle the power no problems.....how long will the clutch last if i dont rebuild or replace it with something stronger?

Id say if you start modifying your car for more power, the first thing i would get is an upgraded clutch.

Mine was slipping at 170rwkw, upgraded the clutch now will handle up to 300rwkw.

Mine is finally slipping, after almost 3 years, 90K with me driving it (already had 60K when I got it) at 170-210rwkw.....210 for the last year - Quite a few launches etc... I'm also almost habbitual in slipping the clutch at lights & hills too...

It's finally slipping from what I assume is purely mileage and the launches.. will be looking at putting in an exeedy heavy duty, with the original pressure plate (if I can) - so the other half will be albe to drive it....

If you are upgrading the clutch plate you might as well upgrade the pressure plate too. They come in kits anyway. If your budget allows do the flywheel.Saves taking the box out again.

If you don't upgrade the pressure plate the only way you will increase the capacity is by running a button style clutch which will reduce drivability.

I'd recommend an xtreme xhd pressure plate with a full face clutch plate. Similar weight on the pedal due to a revised pivot point in the pressure plate and it retains very close to stock drivability.
