hi im looing at getting rid of my SAFC2 and upgrading to either of the above... what u guys recommend ? the current mods i haev and the mods im pretty sure im sticjking with.. dont think ill get anew turbo or larger injectors but *may* but i doubt it get them in the future.... so future expansion isnt a realy requirement just wanna get the most out of what i have.. currently have 182.7rwkw as dynoed a week ago with the following

R33 GTST (95 mtype)

stock EVERYTHING except:

full exhaust including high flow cat

pod filter mounted outside engine bay

FMIC (large one :O)

bleed valve at 10psi (holds very strongly for a bleed valve)

SAFC2

NGK platinum sparkies gapped to ~0.8mm

thermo fan that replaced stock clutch fan (16cm) set to ALWAYS be on

so yer what do you guys think is a better option

emanage with e-01 boost control (i also have a laptop)

or a powerfc with hand and boost controllers ? the powerfc with everything is only ~$400 more than the emanage and e-01 so i dont really care if the powerfc is better the 400 is easily justifiable... and vice versa

where to get the choice i go for tuned etc ? was thinking ice performance coz i got dynoed there and they seemed to be switched on.. unlike some other places that remain unamed have proven to be these past few months.... hehe

so yer after reading my essay please help in my choice :D:D:D cheers guys

also is it ok to block my stock BOV to getthe kool flutter noise ? or is an aftermarket BOV a better way to go for cool noises as im sick o the whoosh the stock BOV gives its just so weak lol

Out of the two, i would definately go the power fc. A much better, proven, combination.

If your reeeeally want the cop seeking attention go the atmospheric BOV. If you want to damage your turbo keep the BOV blocked and have the "cooool" fluttering noise (lol).

Otherwise be smart and stick to the plumb-back system :D.

My 2c

Alan

everyone ive spoken to today has recommended the emanage over the powerfc coz its heaps easier to tune (therefore cheaper) especially for my purposes as im not going any major upgrades.. leaving most parts stock... hmm interesting... more replies cmon peeps wanna hear what everyone has to say...

Is the e-manager a replacement ecu or a piggy-back?

Also:

Is it a direct plug-in?

Does it have the same tunning resolutions as a pfc?

Any modifications required to adapt it to you car?

Does it have the same features as a pfc? (Do you need the extra features that the pfc may offer?)

I don't know much about the e-manager, but these are the things to consider when justifing the $400 differance.

AI,

It is like a piggy back but, different. The wire in is easy and the injector harness ect. is dead simple.

Tuning resolution wise it has enough load points and then some for street use.

No mods required to adapt to car.

It has a few more features than the pfc when coupled with the E-01.

The emanage system has been used very successfuly on many a very fast vehicle. Having said that there are a few areas where Trust have had to re-develop. One area is the automatic trans nissans.

Look like the people in the know are the best to listen to, so go the e-manager :D

But i still stress, that you MUST unblock your BOV! I personally think that you mechanics advise/reasoning is dead wrong!! What do you say rev210?

yes it is unblocked at the moment and im going to keep it that way.. but my next question is if i get an aftermarket BOV... do i then disable/block my stock one ? or alwayskeep that untouched and addon my atmospheric BOV ad tune the emanage so that i dont get stalling ?

Your aftermarket BOV will replace your stock BOV. If you really must run a aftermarket BOV, i would recommend the GFB stealth. You can have them fully venting, or plumback @ the flick of a switch.

I wouldnt bother personaly, keep the stockie. You get enough attention from the cops just driving a import, dont give them another reason to pull you over.

Cheers,

Trev

There are a few different adjustable BOV's out there.. I think an adjustable one is the best option if you must have a BOV.

And a p plater at that :) I give him less than 2 months soon as he sticks one on.

I'd lean towards the PFC still.

Agreed that the e-manage is a good unit and has proven good results, but so has the PFC. And it really comes down to the tune.

I just like the idea of a full ECU swap, instead of something that wires into the stock ECU and fiddles with the inputs to the stock ECU.

And if you get the E-01 (for the display) your up for another $700 or what ever they are.

Good luck with what ever you get, I'm sure either of them will give you good results over the stock crappy ECU.

go PFC with hand controller (i got 1 sitting in my room) coz so much easier to install and u can monitor everything with the hand controller.

Also with the cop and epa situation these days if they pull your kick panel off they there is loom of wire that has been spliced into with a piggy back system u will get done, with the pfc they wont notice. Also the first thing they check now when they open your engine bay is the operation of the afm, e-manager has a map sensor doesent it?? u will get done again.

yer i spoke to ice performance today.. they recommended the powerfc and they do AWESOME work so im going to go the powerfc with hand and boost controller... as for BOVs i rekon that stealth one sounds awesome at the flick of aswitch... stealth is what im all about :P

Hahahahahaha!!

With that HUGE intercooler and the server mods to your front bar, i think stealth is out the door.

Car looks bloody great, thou i would definitely not call it stealth.

That gfb BOV, looks like a load of crap. Once the cops open the hood and see that trumpet, they will give you a canary. Same principal as a removable silencer in the mufler.

    • This isn't for lotsa powers, and time and effort isn't even a thing I'm concerned about The whole reason is "Just because fun", and "Just because fun" is what I do And whilst there are other kits, with better and more modern turbos (Rev9 use the same Kraken manifold I believe.....EDIT... nope, the Kraken is a cast jobbie, the REv9 uses welded up stainless, plus $8000 AUD before shipping, installation and tuning) Where else in Sydney can I do a drive in drive out with the after sales support that MX5 Mania give My Turbo 86 made around 200kwatw on a AVO turbo kit that Pulse fitted, and it was over 100kg heavier than the MX5, but it was a blast to drive around the streets, until I crashed it.....DOOH, so somewhere around 200 ish level and some whooshy noises and I'll be happy driving to work, the shops, or heading into the country with Jackie for Devonshire tea So, thanks Dose for your info, it sounds like a 0.64 will be fine for what I'm after👍 The only real racing I do nowadays is to the toilet

    • Hey @Butters, did you end up getting this clutch in ? I have just ordered to a uniclutch track to go in my getrag 6 speed that’s in my BNR 32
    • I know you don't want to hear this comment, but I can't not say it.  I just can't see 200kw being worth the time and effort. Its like guys with NA cars, putting in headers/exhaust/tune for a massive 20% jump in power. Great, the slow car is still slow and you're down $10,000.  My vote is leave it NA or price in a gearbox upgrade and shoot for at least 300KW, preferably 350KW+.  Now you have a NC that will try to kill you from time to time and will be exciting to drive
