I plan to order some wheels from Japan and want to get it right. They will be 18 x 8.5 but the offset for the rear wheels are confusing me.

I have had a good read through the offset guide, and it appears 99% of people are using a +38 offset on the rears of their skyline.

Offsets offered for the rims I will be ordering are +36 and +46

I know that the +36 will work, but the suggested offset by the manufacturer is +46 Is there some reason for this? Looks? etc?? And would that require modification? Otherwise I'll just order them in +36.

Thanks.

no idea why they are saying the 46 is the way to go. Honestly you would end up with sunken battleship stylz.

If anything i'd be looking for a lower offset than the 36 as the wheels are only 8.5 as opposed to 9. Just as a reference, i had 17x9 +35's under the back of my 32 gtst and they were spot on for offset. the 33 has a bit more guard to fill.

In my opinion, try and go for the lowest offset and widest wheels you can get under your guards. Use the offset calculator to find out how much each will stick out from your standard wheels.

8.5 +32's all round :D

If you aren't confident with offsets than it's worth trial fitting some similar rims before you commit. I'm 99% certain you will fit 8.5 +32's under the front with no guard mods, provided you stick with a 235 or smaller tyre.

Hey im in the same position. Just wondering stated above says 8.5 all around with +32 offset, will +35 offset make much difference, because the rim im currently looking at doesnt have +32... only +30, +33, +35 and +38

I have no real clue about offsets at all, so dont know what will fit the best. Any help will be great!

The only difference you'll notice with the +35 instead of the +32 is that your wheels will be tucked in more by 3mm. Go for the lowest you can and make sure you use the offset calculator to see if they'll fit under your guards.

Heres my options:

18×8.5

5x114 Offsets: 32・36・46

and:

18×7.5

5x114 Offsets: 30・38・48

If those are your only options, go the 8.5 +32 all round...forget about the 7.5. What wheels are these anyway? Just make sure too the wheels are medium disk at least so they clear your front calipers.
