NYTSKY
My car is getting a new turbo in the next 2 weeks.(VG30 highflow) Just wondering if the stock heat shield will fit back on after the install of the new turbo? Or should i bin it and buy a Turbo beanie. What size beanie do i get if i were to get one? abu
Heat shield should still fit as the turbo is low mounted. Wouldn't be sitting that close to the manifold that you cant get the heat shield on. Just my theory, not definite though. Although have no reason to see why it wouldn't fit, as the over-all sizes are virtually the same. bazr33
in my opinion i wouldnt go a turbo beanie, as i have heard from a few different sources that it reduces the life of your turbo considerably. if you owned a drag car and thats all your were doing, then it would be good to have one. driving around on the street etc. yes it would reduce the heat in your engine bay, but it keeps the heat inside your turbo, and have heard of a guy that his dump pipe warped and blew the gasket apart. i would recommend your standard heat shield if it fits (if it doesn't get one made to suit) or get your turbine housing hpc coated. The Dan
If it's a VG30 BB highflow using a Garrett cartridge then the top heatshield will need to be cut on the front side to clear the comp housing as the Garret cartridge is shorter than the Skyline one. It will fit, just need to gasaxe a section out of it. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/183219-turbo-heat-shield/#findComment-3322156 Share on other sites
