Hey guys. I'm would like to give this a go next year. What does the whole thing cost all up with accomodation and everything? I was looking on the web site and it said $2790 for this years event. Is that for both the driver and co driver or each? How much do the sponsors help?

I'm keen to give it a go. Need a co-driver too.

OK - I'm back.

The lull after Dutton has gone away (The one where you don't want to look at your car) I'm ready to go fast again.

I'm pumped already.

The use of again suggests past tense. When have you ever gone fast?

As for what it costs? Budget $2500-$3000 each and you will be in the ball park. Its good fun, just make sure you dont get caught spending 5 k trying to make the car reliable/fast etc as its just dead money and makes the event very expensive

Advice = start saving now

Tip1 - Start the event with new tyres, pads, fluid, clutch.

Tip2 - Don't try to upgrade your car at the last minute. Stick with what you know.

Tip3 - Have fun, Don't try to win it.

Tip4 - Think up funny stickers

Dont do what we did and use the semis for the deca just before Dutton. we finished with next to nothing on the rears.

Next year is going to cost around $3150-$3500 for a team entry. Factor in tyres, brakes, fuel and fluids plus accomm (although we stay at the caravan park as usual as its way cheaper) and alcohol spending $$$ and your looking at around $5-6K for the weekend shared between 2 people.

The Event sponsors don't help you at all - except in keeping the entry fee's down to as minimal as possible. But thats not a cost saving you'll ever feel. Other sponsorship is up to you to get. If you are smart you'll do what Bris and Chris did and sign-up a co-driver that will bring sponsors with them. :)

Time for some vids - Check this one out.

The SPC carpark event is one of the "big pressure" events because all the locals come out for a look and the whole field is watching you. It's an event you love to hate, but love it once you nail it. I'm always sh1tting myself before this one!

More vids to come once I get a chance.

Hats off to you Scotsman in the 33 GTR. You sure can drive!

I remember ur drive at Sandown last year!

Big congrats to Snowy & Blaise for taking outright winners of Dutton Vic 2007!

      I would try messing with friction modifier to see if it smooths it out.  Just keep adding more until it stops chattering or grabbing quite so much. If you haven't changed the gear oil in a long time you may as well start there too in case that has anything to do with it. You might want to also verify the initial torque is set to the lowest setting too. Requires popping out one of the CV axles first but that's not too bad. Once you're sure the preload is set to the lowest you can try adding an ounce at a time of friction modifier until it feels right to you.

      It is possibly 55 degrees for the Nismo version. I had a look through the manual and the stocker has a breakaway torque of 2.5 to 3.5kgm. Supposedly the Nismo LSD goes down to 5kgm when worn in but it is pretty grabby even with very little throttle. Worse when cold. So I guess you have three things. 1. Shims. 2 Friction plates 3. Cams Would think shims would be the easiest but Ive no clue how many tenths of a mm shim thickness change equals how many kgm torque. Also not sure if the Nismo friction plates are similar/different to stock or if they are the most of the source of the diff being angry. Think I can write off the Nismo rebuild kit for the standard diff as not being what I want.

      Yeah, it was a bit of confusion with me, I rang and asked if they had a boot for a soft top, and then the paint shop when they rang and were asked if it had a hard top on it, which it does, just not a PRHT....LOL Meh, whilst frustrating for all concerned it isn't a war stopper and should be a thing of the past in a week or two In other N/A related news, car is booked in at the end of the month for the cams, springs, retainers, harmonic balancer and retune  I might even pull the lazy arse card and get them to do a full service on it whilst it is there
