Anyone tried these maaxis tyres? i just bought a pair for the front and i have to say so far im not overly impressed with them, i had a set of worn toyo TPG's on there that felt really good, nice and direct with plenty of grip, The maxxis feel a bit vauge atm... but im going to give them a while to bed in (driving 800 kms to Winton for a track day on sat so that should do it)

has anyone else tried them and had good experiences with them?

iam running them on 17s 235 i find them really good very grippy i have them on all four corners though, sound like you are only running them on the front? maybe if you had them all over you would get a better feel for them. I feel more confident with them on than when i had my 18' with 245 falkens which cost a fair bit more.

yer they also had a really good write up in motor magazine or another car mag got tested against all the other top competition and scored second best in the wet! can find the article if you google it !

yeah i have the Z-1 on the skyline and the V-1 on the magna, V 1's feel much better but i muct say the Z-1 aren't far behind. I think they rock, gripy as hell and wear well too.

hahaha are you for real dude? You cant compare the V1 with the Z1, the V1 is way inferior, the price also should give you an idea.

Anyway, Simon im running the Z1s at the front, I find them to do a good job for the price you pay for them, I use to run T1Rs and they were just a bit more grippy but at the same time way more expensive and a bit softer compound which means will wear out quicker.

Cheers

Ric

cheers guys! yeah i know they rated well in the motor comparo... and scored number 1 for wet weather braking... doesnt mean a whole heap in the real world tho :)

i recjkon they will be good once ive done a few kms on them.

What tyre pressures are people running them at for hard driving?

I had MAZ1's on mine for about 3 months. While they were way better than the Falken 326 before (put on by the dealer), I wouldn't choose Maxxis again. They seemed to "let go" way too early during any kind of spirited driving, much earlier than I expected them to. While feedback is good, I don't think they should have been losing their grip so early. I swapped them off after about 2 months cos they were out of round. I've now got Toyo T1R's and they hold on much longer before giving the same kind of squeals/feedback.

Having said that, I think there are probably better performing tyres for the money than Toyo. I'll be looking at Bridgestone Potenzas or maybe Hankook somethingorather next. Or Michelin Pilot Sports if I win lotto :(

I have them MA-Z1 on 19" rims. Seem to hold up pretty well, but I guess you can't expect the works but for what you pay it is pretty good bang for your buck.

I was quite surprised with wear after rotation, that's also with keeping tyre pressures on the higher side.

Overall I'd rate them as a good all round performance tyre. But if I was going all out the Neovas will do it!
