hey guys i have had my car runnin 12psi for some time now and it has creeped and spiked the whole time, i have a just jap 3inch stainless split dump/front and im curious if anyone has had problems with this piping! i disconnected my mbc and plugged the wastegate actuator straight into my pressure signal and it goes to .5 and keeps going to .9 sometimes 1.0 bar

were it should be runnin .5 if that max

i have had some thoughts from one of the guys of the forums here, and was curious if anyone has the same turbo back installed and same problems

the thoughts so far are is that the wastegate is either getting stuck while opening on the seperate pipe for the wastegate gases or is jammed?

what are your thoughts guys! the image i attached is the turbo back im talking about

There is only one way to find out mate. Undo the 'e' clip on the actuator rod. Then take the rod off the wastegate flap.

Open and close the flap and see whether it fouls on the dump. Common problem. Seen numerous times with a split dump of a certain brand (not mentioning any names)

i have the same problem i tool the E clamp off on my back turbo and yes it was stuck do i need to change my turbos or something wen i drive the car full boost its spikes like up down up down up down :) help.

i had a look for the E clip today i spotted it ok, i will make sure i dont loose it haha, so if i just remove it and remove rod, then move the flap see if it "fouls" what am i feeling for? if it doesnt open or if it feels like it gets stuck??

Take the rod off and go for a drive. See how much boost it makes. would be lucky to see the .5 bar at redline. If it still spikes then its another issue.

I have an aftermarket split dump and suffered major spiking - from 12psi to 17psi!!. Put my standard back on and 12psi all day.

Found the wastegate flap was fouling the wastegate hole. Gotta get around to die-grinding abit out to get clearances.

i removed the e clip now i am moving the flap but i not sure what i am feeling for

i move it toward the front which is same direction rod comes from and it hits metal i guess thats closed, i then move it toward rear of car and the part i move from left to right hits the turbo heatshield holder what it screws into, i am guessing that it preventing it from opening all the way?? what do you think, sometimes when i move it from the turbo heatshield plate holder toward front it gets stuck unless i jiggle it then it will move again toward front and close! what are your thought guyssss SEND HALP

maybe spray a little WD on where it goes inside the turbo.

In normal operation, the actuator won't open the flap that far to get "stuck".

I see 2 options:

1. take off the dump pipe and try to enlargen the hole for the wastegate

2. buy a bellmount dump pipe

this guy went for option 2 and fixed it

Im having a similar problem at the moment mate. My car has a HKS GT-RS on it and the hks actuator is set on its stock boost which is ment to be around 12-14psi. Mine hit 22psi and was still climbing on the dyno today at 5500rpm, then the guys backed off. So i think my actuator must be hitting the split dump pipe aswell. However i thought it might creep up a little bit, but to 22+ psi?!?!?!?!

Mine isn't a just jap dump, but is very similar.

Let me know how you go, ill have to play around with my actuator this week sometime and check the dump pipe.
