hey guys need ur help

i though i know everything baout skyline models but there is somthing that i didnt know

as far as i know r32 came out with rb20 and rb26(GTR)

and r33 came out rb25 and rb26(GTR)

but my mate told me yeasterday early r33 came out with rb20 standart !!!!!!!!????????

is that true??????

it has a gtr wing on it, gtr badge in the grill, and a badge on the back that looks like a gtr badge until you get up close and it says gts-r (the r is underneath like a gtr badge)

and i saw it driving the other day. it came flying up the road and i blinked, and when i opened my eyes again it hadn't moved very far from where it was when i shut my eyes. it was going so....... normal speed

The 1st character indicates the Displacement Volume

B = 2600cc(2568cc,RB26DETT)

E = 2500cc(2498cc,RB25DE)

H = 2000cc(1998cc,RB20DET,RB20DE,RB20E)

F = 1800cc(1809cc,CA18i)

The 2nd Character indicates the Drivetrain Options

C = HICAS included on model

N = ATTESA (GT-R, GTS-4, Autech)

The rest of the characters are the Model Code (ie R32)

Don't GTR's come with hicas and attessa also?

ah true - didn't realise (i thought attessa did the four wheel steering in gtrs)

so if a gtr can have attessa and hicas what does attessa actually do?

(i know hicas does the stearing of the rear wheels - this is what i removed in my gtst)

attessa is the variable torque split controller isn't it? The thing that sets power to the front when u lose traction

Why do ppl remove the Hicas on the GTR's? Because it is problem prone or because some people can tell the difference on a track with the rear wheel steering? I never removed it on my gtst but was always curious as to exactly how unstable it made the car feel as compared to without it

Attessa is just the 4wd system isn't it? It controls how much torque to put to the front wheels when losing rear end traction.

I think people remove the hicas because you don't know when it's going to 'turn on' during a turn and makes the car unstable. Without the hicas I assume you would have more control over the car. You'll know if it's going to go sideways and not just stop half way.

hicas do often give problems i was led to believe but mine gave none.

removed it for better feel as you dont know when the rear is gonna turn,

and sometimes when it happens you think its the back loosing traction so

you try to correct it - yeah its just crap (IMO)

    • It's something we all have to consider as time marches on. Also consider lifted rally MX5 conversion at that point.
    • I should be fine for a few more years, whilst I do have arthritis I also exercise and do mobility training every day to keep as fit and healthy as I can, military life, which is the actual cause of most of my joint issues, has set daily regimes, which I weirdly enjoy I also train alot smarter now, not really focusing on lots strength or puffy muscles, I'm more focused on maintaining what I have for my future older self, I actually train as much mobility now as I do exercising Check out this "simple" drill I have been doing daily prior to training now for a while now, this has worked wonders in my all round mobility   
    • I'd say one thing that may make you sell is the same reason the guy with the hard top roof sold his. He got old, and his back was giving him too much grief stopping him getting in and out... Old guy said he was 73! He looked and sounded younger than 73 to me! Or maybe I'm just aligning with old people more...
    • Already looked at a few prior to getting the MX5, really nice car, had all the mod cons, but I wasn't really sold on the new "look" I did miss my 2017 Limited, and I personally prefer the "look" of the older car over the new model, but, when pondering I kept going back looking at MX5's But it was same same for the new ND's, I wasn't sold on the new "look", especially the RF with its weird roof, which only half goes down, like a targa top sort of thing As I stated before, I did look at NC's, but the cars I looked at were PRHT's, but I didn't like their roof line "look" of the PRHT, until I saw the soft top version, (someone on SAU posted a for sale ad for one with a soft top that caught my attention, you can blame them for my choice.....🤣) and.... that old style detachable hard tops were available for them, which keeps the old MX5 more smoother flowing roof line, and the more rounded body style, similar to the NA-NB, to me, the arse end of the ND looks to "modern" Much like how I prefer the NC1 front bar, over the later models How long will I keep this car for is unknown, but currently, there's nothing else out there that "floats my boat" for a small, fun, little "sports car", that I can play with and enjoy looking at and driving But, who knows what the future holds, and going off current new car styling, if I replace it, it will be a older model something something
