Hey,

Im currently in the market for a new clutch for my R32 gtst (which will only see 200kw atw in the future)

With so many clutches on the market, with different names and parts, which one would be the best/easiest for daily driving?

So far in mind are;

-----------------------------

Exedy H/D Clutch - Genuine

Exedy H/D Clutch with Pressure plate rated @ 1050kg

Exedy Sports Organic Clutch - Genuine

Exedy Sports Organic with NKK Pressure Plate

Exedy 5 puk Button Kit with Pressure plate rated @ 1200kg

----------------------------

I heard the Sports organic is a much easier clutch for driving than the H/D and also holds more power.

Although not sure where the 5puk button kit falls into this comparison

Thanks

Patrick

Have had the Exedy HD with stronger pressure plate fitted in my 32 GTST & it had a nice feel to it. Slightly heavier than stock but not enough to even bother my mum. However, on a fairly stock RB20DET (exhaust, intercooler & boost), I managed to kill it in 12 months & 13,000 km's. I am a very hard driver but I was still expecting more... Have now fitted an Exedy un-cushioned 5-puck brass-button clutch & I love it! Stiff as hell, with little to no play in it, it sure isnt for everyone but is a lot easier to drive than I would have imagined. Just takes a little getting used to...

Is there a lot of difference in pedel feel between 800kg and 1000kg pressure plate?

It's either Exedy HD w/ 1050kg PBR plate

OR

Exedy HD w/ 800kg Exedy plate

Only $100 price difference between them, 800kg easier to drive in traffic or no difference between the two pressure plate loads?

Thanks again

Yo dude, thought I might add that I put a new clutch in my 4 door r32 drifter not long ago. The clutch was from CBA( clutch and brakes australia ) and cost me $500. It was a ceramic coated 5 puck with a 1100 or more cant remember pressure plate. This was the heaviest duty clutch I could get without going to full race spec (which dont last), and it was easily drivable as my daily gardeners car also. Whilst on the r32 clutch topic I thought I might ask if your going to keep or bypass the loop bit in the clutch lines that makes the pedal feel softer ? If bypassing do you know if you just block the outlet and inlet for this loop with screws or what?

mm sounds like the HD is the way to go.

Anyone had any experience with Sports Organic clutches?

Cheers

If your a confident manual driver man go with a EXEDY 5 PUK BRASS BUTTON. Can take up to 300rwkw and will save you time later when you drive it hard, or push the car for some more rwkw.

That way you wont have to worry about it breaking, but might strain and blow the box first lol

Doesn't take that much getting used to, if you drive manual frequently you will pick it up in a few days.

hey mate i just recently put in an exedy heavy duty cushioned button in my r33 i got 210kw at the wheels and its real good, grips heaps well and the pedal feel is a little heavier but not to much heaps better than the 5puk for every day driving still can slip a little i would reccommend it im very happy wit it.

Anyone recommending a button clutch has either driven on them for the last 4-5 years or it's their first one and they haven't had it long.

People who think button clutches are easy to drive are wrong, You can make them easy to drive but by driving it like a regular organic clutch, it will wear out in close to 12 months. To drive a button clutch is to drive it harsh, no riding...just in or out/on or off. Damages driveline and other components.

Only recommended if you are willing to replace it in 12-14 months and keep learning to drive it properly. Sometimes there is no option but to run a button clutch if power levels exceed a certain amount.

The Exedy heavy duty clutch will hold up to 240rwkw. If you don't to ghey stuff like flat shiftingand 6k launches, then you will not break it.

If you are local to Brisbane we are fitting these clutches for $715 including flywheel machine and spigot.

If you want something a little heavier then you can request the NSK-7056 kit with the NC10T pressure plate. This is the 1100kg pressure plate, and is the true antiburst/antislip cover that exedy make for Nismo. These are a fair bit more expensive but will hold more torque and last longer.

Just remember, you don't need to go overboard but you do need to consider what the car will be used for in the future because if you decide to add more power, then a different clutch may be required. Careful consideration is required to make sure you don't waste your money.
