Can someone here help me find out whats makes a r32 NISMO engine better then a r32 stock engine?

My friend has a nismo engine that was low compression and swapped it with an r33 motor.

I am not talking about A N1 just nismo.

What is different in the NISMO engine over stock.. and what is the block casting number.. 05U aswell?

no idea what a "nismo" engine is, unless nismo actualy did the original build? The 3 types of block are standard, N1 and Group A (in order of strength/reinforcing).

There was a "nismo edition" 32 but there were very few made and I doubt there are any in Aus.....

there are a few Nismo's in Aus, they made 500 for Group-A homoligation. But as far as i've read it a great unknown whats in them, they have a bigger turbos, but after that non of the info is consistant.

ok so i found most the answers out myself.

The R32 Nismo was a special edition made, and sort of a lightweight edition.

Oh and all Nismo Cars had the chassis code BNR32-1XXXXX.

All nismo and only nismo cars had the 1 in front of the car serial number.

It can with standard engine 05U, Standard ceramic turbos, brakes etc... only thing different on these cars are:

missing carpet in trunk, no rear glass wiper, nismo speedo stock, shorter throw shifter, No A/C or stereo (even thou most people refitted them with both) and different carpet covers. Nismo spoiler lip, nismo hood lip. only made 560 R32 Nismos..

The N1's had the better 24U motor, 14411-06U00 turbos, etc.. etc..

WRONG, WRONG, WRONG , nissan made 3 types of rb26 engines ,,, there was the O5U (standard) ,,, 24U (nismo) ...rare... ,,, then there was the RRR (GT block)... ultra rare ...

... Vehicle Production Figures...

  • Standard Cars = 40,390
  • NISMO Group A Evolution = 560
  • V-Spec = 1,453
  • V-Spec II = 1,303
  • N1 Race Version = 228
  • Total = 43,930
  • GT = 200

There were not many replacment engines made less than 10% of production figures.

There are nismo R32 GTR's in australia i should know because i have one, and i know there are at least 5 otheres ...

A family friend of mine worked on the nissan skylines while they were racing in australia at ( BATHURST) they used standard GTR's as the NISMO or N1 were plan out write to expensive. there were 6 standard R32 GTR's orderd by gibbson motorsport. i know what parts and setups they used if interested send a message to my inbox. PLEASE PEOPLE DONT REPLY TO A POST IF YOU THINK YOU KNOW SOMETHING AS PEOPLE DONT LIKE KNOW IT ALL'S.........

The difference between power of the standard rb26... 206 bhp nismo 600 bhp

So just to clarify, a standard RB26 makes 206hp, the Nismo RB26 makes 600hp, Cause I would hate to be a know it all and think that every R32 GTR made 206kw

Holy thread revival!

Really?

I thought the 24U = N1 Engine for the RB26... Not Nismo... Does your Nismo R32 GTR have O5U or 24U on the block?

I thought NISMO Group A Evolution = Base model R32 GTR's with a Nismo body kit from factory.

Nismo Body Kit = 2 Air ducts on the front bumper to improve airflow to the intercooler.

Bonnet lip spoiler to direct more air into the engine bay.

Boot lip spoiler to provide more downforce.

Rear Spats on the Side Skirts.

Nismo R32 GTR's should have a nice sticker on the boot lid and I would assume some sort of marking to say it is a "Genuine" Nismo R32 GTR.

Only available in Gunmetal Grey and 560 units were made on, which started on the 22nd Feb 1990.

As the OP is not all that clear on the engine info... This might help.

For all who doing know, Nismo made a Fine Spec Engine:

Could that be what mwracing be talking about..?

It is the base model R32 GTR but with a 'Nismo Body Kit'.

It would weight the same if not a tad more then a base model R32 GTR due to the extra add on bits from the body kit, but nothing huge.

The N1's had the better 24U motor, 14411-06U00 turbos, etc.. etc..

This is N1 and only 288 units where made from 19 July 1991.

Nismo and N1 are 2 different cars judging mostly from the engine specs and the N1 should have Brembo Calipers.

The Nismo Body Kit can easily be added on after purchase of the N1, I have a Nismo Body Kit as well and mine is just a base model as the previous owner would have added it on.

Umm, i think you'll find that the 24U is an N1 engine not a "NISMO" engine.

maybe you should chill a bit before telling people to get their facts right?

Hah!

Where did that power figure come from?

:P

There were 2 variants of the N1 -

the first was the 91/92 model N1 which was based on the standard car, brembo's hadn't made their way to any GTR's at this stage so like mine, earlier N1's came without Brembo's. Also re bodykits the few genuine early N1's I've seen came with front hood spoiler, rear trunk spolier and sideskirts but none had the splats in front of the rear wheels that are part of NISMO kits i think.

The later N1's, 93/94 where based on V-specs so these cars did get the Brembo's.

The 91/92 N1's have ZN as part of the chassis code and the later model had Z something can't remember if its Y or X.

Good you clarified that!

I remember you starting a thread about your R32 GTR being an N1, but I could not see the Brembo's due to the limited amount of photo's that was posted.

I was still speculating if it was a N1 or not.

Well you answered my question.

Thanks.

BTW did yours come with an Oil Cooler, like the R33 GTR N1's?

Nope, unfortunately not.

Was considering grabbing one from Nissan, but the AUD price before shipping was ridiculous. Somehwere around the $2.5k to $3k.

The hardest thing with these cars is that there's very limited "official" nissan info out there, in either Japanese or English. But if you dig hard enough you get some truth. For example i know have official Nissan docs which state the details of how the car left the factory eg there was no ABS.
