your asking for an unbiased opinion from a group of peoplewho are very biased towards their gtr's lol

get one and you wont regret it

Not really, im a GTS driver and i support the idea of a GTR as long as he can "comfortably" afford it and doesnt go into blind to the cons of owning and daily driving one....especially one thats been modded.

You guys bring up so many points for and against the arguement lol. I agree with what you are saying R Dirty 3. Buying a house and owning a GTR is not really something that goes well together. Still a difficult decision tho :whistling:

Going to have to think long and hard about this.

I have a 500hp GTR33 daily driver. The costs of running it are no higher than the 2 33 GTS25ts and it is overall a fair bit nicer to drive around.

Don't be precious, it is just a car. Get decent insurance, shop around brokers. Drive it and enjoy it or you will eventually regret it.

I have a BA XR8 ute with leather and the toss up is to take that or the GTR. At the moment the ute is getting the drive time because it is so comfy. The GTS25ts lost their appeal so that one is a racecar only and the other got sold.

i wish i had a job like yours lol

sell your 33, buy a decent daily driver (something like a pulssar will do it) then save up or whatever and buy a GTR. Then you could do something like drive the GTR evey second day or something. Also one other thing to remember, you can get 33gtr's under 25k imported but you do get what you pay for, i'm not saying that it will be in terrible condition or anything but it may be a better option to get one in very good condition if your likely to use it as a daily as it will be less prone to failure. Just my opion there, but in the end you'll have to asses the pros and cons and your finacial position and then decide.

What job? I'm retired (39 soon) except for a bit of consulting work that I charge a lot for.....

Seriously I started with an XM Falcon ute at 17 when I worked as a Jackaroo and then Corollas and a host of other things. I tried all sorts of things to make various cars something that they weren't. Aside from a few absolutely dedicated race cars, everything was a huge uphill battle to make performance and then chase the problems that created in cars that just were never meant to do it. A GTSt Skyline is highly capable but needs plenty to get to the base starting point of a GTR including decent seats......

My best advice is save time and money now. If you can afford a GTR, then get it and enjoy it, but look after it.

I owned a GTST Sold it and brought the GTR as a impulse, Never have I looked back the GTR is everything you have been told + more. Its not bad to drive eveyday, I get 380 a tank and from what I have been told I have a heavy foot and my other friend owns a R33 GTST and he gets about the same about of K's any how so the way I look at it GTR FTW.

GTR daily *raises hand* Buts thats only because my Esky needs a new starter motor at the moment.

If I only drive to work and back its a 45km per day trip which is a quite low anyway and I am getting around 320km's to a tank and using 600cc injectors. Some mildly modded GTR's see close to 400km's per tank which is what mine used to day with 25 less hp.

+1 GTR +1 never look back -1,000,000 monies

Apart from the smartest thing to do (buying a house), I recon it would take a lot of mods to get a Gtst to performe power and handling wise to match a standard GTR - and even then you dont have 4wd, then you got the interior differences.........and the main thing.....the BADGE which signifies a long proud history when it all began in Bathurst....hehehe

Sensible or live life now - that's the question.

Trust me life is pretty short and there is no point growing old saying I shoulda or coulda but you're the only one who knows what you really want or can really afford.

For my money a "good" GTR takes a lot of beating in the smile on your dial stakes but they are not the cheapest gear to purchase or own.

I love mine and just don't like the lack of places you can use them to their potential. They are fine a daily driver if you want to use them that way. I'm a sook and don't leave my car in public car parks etc as it seems to drag all the low lifes out for a squiz and I hate the thought of a keying or trolley - but I can afford to be picky as I have a number of cars to choose from.

Your call but if you have got the money and the plan I don't think you will regret a GTR in the long run.

i was guna buy a 32 gtr but i thought at this stage il get a gtst and see how I go. I think once my new fuel pump in I will be happy with the output of power, its good enough for street as a daily. after i have it tuned right im goign to get a set of bucket seats and get the suspension components and bushes up to scratch and ima leave it.. i have teins with the 45v3 which is a good platform i feel for a street car.

    • Ducan , yeah sure mate , the unit is https://www.carlinkit.com/ambient TBox Ambient -  plugs straight into the USB C and it runs as a android  unit and you can link your phone to it via Bluetooth , but it only allows for one phone at a time. you can download and apk files you want and load it on there , I downloaded a basic maps apk (OsmAnd+ — Maps & GPS Offline) so I can run navigation without data usage , its not as good at google or wazes but it works fine for what I need. I can put up screen shots if you like. Cheers Pac

    • The gearbox in my R32 GTS4 (now with RB25DET) has just over 300k on it . Life includes some track time. Has had one change of oil in its lifetime. I rev match on down changes. I don't have any problems with synchros or gear crunching.
    • Currently advertised with some A4 flyers up at work for $30k ono Will detail it next week, and get some good picks for carsales, then put the cover back on and put it back on the tender until someone comes to look at it No real hurry to sell, in saying this I would like it gone with in 6 months as I am retiring in May 25 and lose the ability to store the car undercover in a secured site, plus as we are moving out of Sydney the potential buyers market will be more limited https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/485907-2002-vx-ss-commodore-30000-ono/
