I have a RB25DET 1.generation with the external ignition amplifier and stock coils. To get it to work with high boost I'm using NGK BCPR7ES plugs gapped to 0.60mm but it doesnt run very smooth with a cold engine or at low revs because of the heat value and low gapping.

I also bought a HKS DLI2 with twinspark\CDi but it came with a wiring harness for a rb25det 2.gen engine wich has different coils and the ign amp integrated in the ecu so I could not install it.

But I know I need a stronger spark! So what alternatives are there to improve spark on a 1.gen engine? I've heard the splitfire coilpacks are nothing else than stock coils with blue paint. And I think my stock coilpacks are in decent shape. Anybody got any tips on products?

You dont need stronger spark i reckon

You need GOOD coils, and GOOD plugs, and a GOOD tune.

Thats it. :D

The HKS spark box is only for when you get above 350rwkw, if your breaking down before that... coils is the likely option

I'm running a GT4088R with about 1.5 bars of boost now. It starts popping and misfiring under boost after that. But I want to run about 2.0 bar. And im aiming for about 650-700hp at the wheels

You have some sort of ingition issue then

Stock coils combines with the HKS box has many a time run over 500rwkw.

Plenty of Jap cars have done it :)

excactly, thats why I need a HKS box that fits my ignition system. the DLI2 amp unit apparantly doesnt. I cant find anybody who has made it work and how.
