got this sound thats coming from the front right. it happens when i stop on an uphill so i can reverse to park

Its like got some play so when i brake it rocks back and makes the knock (mostly when im on an uphill so the car rolls back slightly)

best i can explain

some sort of bush must need replacing but im not too good on suspension issues so does anyone have any idea?

Could be your caster rods or if its aftermarket then it will be the pillow tension rods. Check also the tie rods.

I've got the same problem i'm pretty sure. Only does it once every time, right?

I think its the actual pads moving inside the caliper mounts; as theyre not a perfect fit, they tend to clack as they are moved when they contact the rotors. They caliper mounts should come factory with some kind of spring clips (i think) to prevent this (or at least to dampen it), but i think as mechanics/DIY'ers get lazy or careless, they dont replace them with the new pads.

only does it once, front right

and you could be right... only happened since i changed my pads but i dont see how they would be doing it

when i replaced my pads i put in the new pads, 2 shims and 1 smaller shim that goes on the corner of the pad, also put back the sliding bolts with the spring thing to keep them from sliding out

am i missing something??

Probably not, as most aftermarket pads are not a 'perfect' fit, they've got a couple of mm's of freeplay inside the caliper bracket. I'd say thats all it takes to make the sound.

ALSO to add something i just remembered... when i bought my car it has 4 new tyres which i assumed to be balance but most probably not aligned

anyhow... after 6 months or so i have MASSIVE wear on the inside front right tyre where incidently is where im getting the knock

what bushes/components would determine camber on the front?? im assuming its too much camber due to a worn bush or something

anyhow thanks so far

cheers

just to add, ordered some castor rod bushes, will replace them by monday/tuesday and will let u know how it goes

if that fails, will probably get new control arm bushes

Cool.. let me know how the castor rod bush replacement goes.. i'm looking at getting adjustabes in the next few weeks.

update, replaced the bushes on the castor rods which didnt look too bad but there were some crack going half way around them (which were a nismo item btw) with some d-project ebay jobbie ones

no knocking anymore, so far so good..

were easy to replace as all you had to do was jack the car up, undo 3 buts on each side

press out old ones bushes, press in new ones. Don't even bother if you don't have a press
