give them a call.

you need:

http://kanatechs.jp/ax/n01v.html

which for them *MAY* be a special order but they are able to get it.

Chris,

thanks.

Chris,

Got a cable from the US which is for iPod input so I'm going to try this once the 3ft of Snow I have outside goes down!

If I get this to work I should be able to get a video signal in aswell which should allow me to see about a GPS unit in the

boot to work through the existing display.

I'm also wondering if I got a US spec. DVD drive would that give me english display?

pepsi..

this thread Is getting a little old, but I just got my v35 coupe. :action-smiley-069:

I have read the full thread, but cannot remember seeing the instructions / photos of how to cut the two wires behind the standard nav unit to enable the AUX video to stay on while moving. If anyone can point me to it, it would be much appreciated.

Hi John, check out Pete82's post on page 10 of this thread. I think this is the easiest way to achieve what you're after. Get back to me if you want more info.

Do you have a digital tuner for you V35 yet? Let me know if you need one.

Cheers, Leon.

Thanks Leon, I have no real plan for TV, for now. I really just want audio. And maybe an OBDII reader after that.

I can recommend the Greddy Informeter as a good reader for these cars.

I think I would be looking at going for something integrated with the Carputer such as the Blazt cable and software. But that is after I get the audio system setup (ie a media centre style PC).

I installed the AUX cable I got from Chris on the weekend (and also did a conversion with Andy, and a tint), and got a bit of an unexpected free bonus.

The previous talk of how the AUX does not work by default while in motion, is actually only for the video, the audio keeps playing; i completely missed that. So, until I get my car-pc set up, I have an MP3 player connected to AUX in. It's actually pretty supprising that the audio from the MP3 keeps playing while you are in one of the standard screens (eg fuel consumption) My 6-stacker CD player is jammed, and AM radio was not putting me in a happy place.

Hey Chris,

I've got a 2001 M35 and I'm going to put in a dvd headunit and want to hook it up to the OE screen. Was wondering if you still have the harness that connects to the AUX socket on the tuner to the RCA sockets? If you do, what would be the cost of getting one over to NZ? Otherwise I'll just gash it up to the pins.

If I was to just connect to the pins, I'm assuming the ground pin and shield pin are common?

Cheers,

Alex

Hi Alex

The shield / braid of both the audio wires (red & white) are connected together. The shield of the video (yellow) is on a separate pin.

This is the layout of the white socket on your tuner:

1________6

2__3__4__5

1 - audio right (red - inner conductor)

2 - audio left (white - inner conductor)

3 - audio ground (shield of both red & white above)

4.- video (yellow - inner conductor)

5 - not used

6 - video shield (yellow - outer sheild)

I hope this helps

Leon.

did the upgrade today using both ends of an unused PC cd audio cable and some rca fittings i had lying around - perfect fit! trialled with xbox360

total cost = 0

now to just get rid of the tv clock display....

What are people using to switch between a reverse camera, and a tuner or DVD player, both going into the AUX socket? I am thinking of making a two wire relay switch (off the reverse lights), but thought there must be a more elegant method already in use?

That will work if you do it that way. You can also get the tuner and have an extra yellow RCA added inside the tuner so its hidden you still need a relay.

When i opened up the TV Tuner, i found that there are 2 pins on the circuit board from the main plug that have CONT 1 and Cont 2 written on the PCB.

So i connected a relay off the reverse lights whichs ground the CONT 1 Pin therefore automatically switching in the reverse camera when placed into reverse.

So, if I am reading this right, these two points on the circuit board actually come out of the box in the main cable? I would prefer to splice/solder something outside of the box. Anyone know anymore detail as to which wire(s) it is?

I am also looking for an "ignition on" wire, in the boot. My plan is to simply get out my multimeter, and test each of the pins in each of the TV plugs, unless someone can point me in the direction of a better idea?

I cant remember which wires are C1 or C2 but you could take the tuner out and remove the cover to see which pin goes to what wire. Could be quicker option than waiting for a reply. Also a MM will do the trick to find main power and acc and yes its in the main plug.

Thanks guys, hopefully by the end of today the actual install of the Computer will be done; I think I have software 90% there. With the reversing camera and OBDII integration being next; software alreadey up and runnong.

I bought a CCD NTSC reversing camera off eBay, and will need to create a relay box to switch over the video, when in reverse.

    • Dumb question, but why would it matter if the wheel came off a car with hicas or not?
    • Hey to anyone that reads this, long time lurker first time posting, sorry if it’s been answered before but I’ve been looking for nearly a year now for answers. ive got a 25det neo in an r32 that works awesome when it works (made 500whp on 21psi) but works 45% of the time, 1st issue there’s a harness that runs under the passengers side front fender that my tire keeps rubbing through and one wire seems to power the fuel pump even though I’ve done the relay “mod” some people like to call it, and when it does rub through it kills the car, yes next time I’m with the car I want to take the fender off and try tuck the harness well out of the way but I’d also like to try and by pass this mysterious wire as well lol, also wouldn’t mind getting power from the alternator as I’ve read it supplies the pump with 13v ? But no idea where to run the power wire too. 2nd issue, when replacing my fuel pump and fuel hanger I managed to break the factory fuel level sender leaving me with no fuel gauge, I’d like to buy the fpg fuel level sender for r32/s13 but the plug it comes with confuses me, I’ve got a detschwerks x1 fuel hanger which has light + pump - level + pump + and a ground, I’m no auto sparky but I’m wondering if I can cut the plug off the fuel level sender and wire the negative to the pump negative and wire the positive to the level positive to get a fuel gauge back ?🥴 3rd and final issue, the reason I want a fuel gauge is because whenever it’s below half a tank, it fuel starves like crazy and runs like a bag of shit even without doing a pull or sloshing the fuel round in the tank, I’d also like to fix this but have no idea what’s causing it, I’ve got a dw420 and a dead head fuel setup meaning the fuel is regulated before it gets to the engine, my only theory is that the return line is to close to the pickup on the pump and when it’s at half a tank the return line is causing the pump to cavitate enough to cause fuel pressure issues, that or the pump isn’t low enough in the tank which I would find strange considering I can’t find a single thing online about it, also if ya wondering how I figured out it happens at half a tank without a fuel gauge, I waited until it started happening and went and filled up and the car took exactly 30 litres every time I tested it, if ya managed to read through this mess I appreciate that and any recommendations , cheers
    • ChatGPT is trash and lies about things I would not expect it to lie about considering many things it's wrong about are very easily verified with google. The S3 R33 GTR shares its steering wheel with R33 GTSTs of the same production year. Part number is 48430-26U17. I'm guessing you have to get it from a car that came with HICAS though, the ER33 is 48430-26U18, but the HR33 diagrams note that part number is still leather vs 48430-26U13 which is not leather-wrapped. They all use the same airbags, so if you need another one you can get it off basically any same year R33 or Stagea.
    • I'm going to run hard lines front to back in the future. That should help dissipate a bit more heat. If not, a fuel cooler might be next
    • No. The mark is with respect to the cam rotation. None of those things have altered it. When stationary, the cam position stays in sync with the crank position. It doesn't matter if you moved the head 4 feet up. Hence, that mark needs to stay exactly where it is.
