well the actual vehicle modification takes very little time, but the process of compliance takes about 2-3 weeks from dropping car off, to picking up plated car.

my advice is ask the shop doing the compliance who long they take.

2 - 3 weeks?

Your compliance workshop open @ 11 and close at noon or something?

Mine got in on a tuesday and I was plated and registered by friday. Drove home friday night.

Give your workshop plenty of heads up and f theyre organised, the compliance papers will be in canberra as your vehicle arrives =)

like I said, the acutal work takes very little time, but it can take up to 2 weeks to get the plate. the 'compliance papers' cannot be in canberra when your car arrives as it needs to be signed off by an engineer AFTER the compliance work has been completed, then paperwork submitted, then plate is sent.

Cheers Richard. I was thinking that the actual mods wouldn't take long, but I didn't know how long the paperwork would take.... the workshop quoted about 2-3 weeks, so you're spot on with their estimate. Was hoping I could hassle them for being slack, but I guess it's reasonable. :D Just can't wait to get my bargain Stag!

I still have no idea why it would take that long to get a plate sent to you. 2 - 3 weeks is just ridiculous.

I had mine done @ SVI here in bris and Mick had he applications papers already processed when my car was being worked on, then the engineer's report and roadworthy were sent. Plate arrived the next day.

Yes i paid more for my compliance, but im glad i did knowing you guys have to wait 3 weeks for your car to be registerable. ;)

again, the workshop has very little control over the time frame. my current car again has taken under a week for all work and inspections to be performed, but DOTARS have advised that their processing time is approx 3 weeks by the time we get the sticker and there is nothing you can do about that.

I have to agree, when i imported my r32 last year it took 2 weeks, the actual work only took 2-3 days but when the papers where sent off my workshop did not receive the plate for 2 weeks. But my workshop did a lil dodgey and sent me the car before he received the plate and just express posted it and made sure i placed the plate in the right spot before registering!! Always a good way if your getting compliance done interstate!!

Just wondering how long compliance takes on average.... car in Q is a 1997 Stagea.....

Heyyyyyyyy... same as my car, silver 97 RS250 Stagea, i waited 1 week and same for customs.

btw, how much did it total? i used Nizmo for compliance but don't like'em, a little shonky and tooooooo

expensive, they're the ones who pull apart the good parts and replace with standard equip just to make a quick buck !

anyway, too late for me, i didn't have much choice as they were the only one last years with Stagea plates available.

It has been taking between 3 and 4 weeks of late as there has only been 1 person @ DOTARS processing application forms. Absolutely ridiculous but then again it is a Govt body!

That is the same story i got, took neally 5 weeks but the car is on a truck from brissy as i write this and will have it buy thursday

yeh gtt sedan

Is this still the case?? 3 - 4 weeks?? My compliance workshop has told me it should not be more than 2 weeks and that there are 2 people doing the paperwork.. seems rediculous!!

Is there a number we can call to ask about how long it will be taking or can they give us an update at all??

Sorry if i seem ignorant but Im not that clued up with the importing process.. I bought a car from a yard which already had all the compliance work done here in melbourne, all they have to do is send off the papers and wait for a reply which i was told would take about 2 weeks in total before i was driving the car. Is this not the case currently?? The papers were sent a week ago..

Cheers

dotars are held up big time... however they were supposed to remove the bottleneck a few weeks ago, and most of the cars ive heard that were held up are almost done now.

my car was "mechanically" complianced within days of arriving, but yeah.. waited over a month for the approval, and then another week for the plate itself.
