HYBRID will do the job man.

How much power you looking at running etc?

JUST JAP do a good intercooler kit for about $345 + delivery. Incudes all silicone joiners, clamps and polished piping.

There good for street use, and probably something like 260rwkw if not more.

Yeh i'm thinking of upgrading to a front mount soon. Someone told me the other day the JUST JAP ones are a bargain (i'll prob go one for the price, and i don't plan on making massive power) but one of the models has fitting problems, like the piping doesn't match up with the car in some areas.

Not sure about specifics, just what he told me.

Yep I'd go a specific kit over a universal kit like a HYBRID/JUST JAP.

It comes down to cost. I spent a bit on a BLITZ kit for my R32, but I know it will bolt straight on and I wanted a return flow style piping setup so the car retainst he standard piping in the engine bay and runs to 1 side outside the car like the stock cooler.

If I didn't do that, I was going to buy a JUST JAP kit. You cant go wrong for $345 + delivery. Will need to make your own mounting bracks, but other than that the piping lines up fair easily. The hardest part is actually mounting the intercooler, and cutting the hole under the battery tray.

Hey, sorry for the nube question, just getting into the whole mod scene.

I've currently got a 33 with a turbo back exhaust and splitfire coilpacks, and eventually I'd like to get a bigger turbs.

Question: When would the right time be to have a new intercooler installed?

Would it be beneficial to have it installed before/after a certain mod is installed?

install it before anything else, especially before a new turbo.

it'll help the air flow alot better, and raise your boost a lil. :)

It won't raise the boost pressure in a 33 as the pressure signal is taken after the intercooler. 600x300x76 cooler is excessively big for a stock car, you'll loose some throttle response and fuel economy. Personally I'd do the intercooler at the same time I was doing turbo.

FMIC is always a good upgrade anywhere in the list.

They are cheap and easy to install, and gives you the ability to run that little bit extra boost, so people tend to do it sooner than later.

Few other good mods to start with are, turbo back 3" exhaust, larger fuel pump and also the FMIC as mentioned.

Next state would be some form of engine management, larger turbo and a tune.

After that comes injectors if you want more power, then another retune.

Ahh ok cool cool..

So I've been thinking about a checklist to do before reaching the almighty bigger turbo. So far I have the following:

Exhaust - turbo back X

FMIC

JJR SS split dump/front

Larger fuel pump

Power FC

Big snail

Is there anything on that list that anyone would recommend reshuffling? Or removing, for the time being? I'd love for all of this to installed at once, but unfortunately, I am on the budget concious side of things. hahah dammit!

(EDIT: Previously had FMIC/Intercooler listed)

Thast about right.

You would probably want to go with a bigger clutch as the standard wouldn't last to long.

Also if your looking at sort of over 240 - 250rwkw you would want to go with a bigger set of injectors.

Your on the right track though! :)

Hey, im kinda new to the Turbo scene too, Just picked up a 33 myself, is there any reason you would go FMIC before the split dump/front?

I was planning on completing the exhaust before moving to the intake side of it. Have had a brand new HKS Silent Power sitting in its box for 3 months now lol. Pick up the car on Friday :P

turbo back zorst would have the front pipe already.

if i was in your sitch i'd get a decent catback, and go for one of those dump/front pipe packages from justjap.

... hmm, well I guess that shows just how much I know about this stuff..... haha

Well, my mates dad is my mechanic and he's the one who installed it.. without my knowledge, hahah.. but he's cool about payment. ($20 here and there). So I can safely assume that he's installed pretty decent exhaust in there.
