Hi,

I'm in the market for an r34 non turbo (RB25DE).

There are a few questions in regards to the cooling system.

1. Which coolant is required green or red? Any prefered brands?

2. Are there any special mixing ratios for coolant/water?

3. Are there any other additives required? (For a VS commodore there is this extra powder stuff you add) I don't know if it is the same for a skyline...

4. How easy is it to obtain replacement hoses? ie. does Repco, Supercheap or autobran supply them - or even nissan dealerships?

5. Any other tips/advice to look out for?

Cheers

hoses from nissan, though most A/M places have silicon hoses for some replacements.

Red or green, up to you and just mis it as per the bottles they come in.

i use the least amount of coolant possible in the mix, as coolant doesnt make it cool better, just increases the boiling point of the water its mixed with.

I understood the "coolant" was used more for its anti-corrosion properties. Widening the useable temperature range of the cooling liquid is simply a bonus. As such, it needs to be mixed at the recommended ratio.

Im looking for coolant hoses and the like. My R33 needs basically a full new cooling hose kit. Do any of you have anything I can use?

(I don't want to pay $700+ through Nissan if I can avoid it)

Cheers,

Josh

Oh, im in Greensborough, Melbourne, so delivery/whatever shouldn't be a problem.

get a price on hoses through a generic place like repco. nissan are cheap for some things and very expensive for other things.

Erm im pretty sure repco would be the same price as Nissan, because they'd just be reselling them. So unless they are NOT genuine, they shouldn't be any cheaper.. But i'll give them a call anyway, thanks.

repco should be able to get em, and they wouldn't resell nissan ones. Repco import/manafacture their own, quality should be the same as nissan.

    • Plan on the day will be to park trackside. Depending on space availability we will try put a small shade tent and a few of the cars on top of the hill inside turn 3, this is an easy to get to parking area with views of Turn 2, Turn 3, Turn 4 and Turn 5 and limited other pieces of the view around the track. IMPORTANT NOTE! One consideration from previous years is from memory the trackside parking sells out before the admission tickets, for that reason I encourage anyone planning on coming to buy tickets for parking now via the official website; https://www.worldtimeattack.com/ The type of parking you are looking for is 2 Day Park & View (Access Around Venue) Vehicle Pass Only Please note this does not include admission to the event itself, remember to grab that also, and kids under 12 get in for free!

    • Good time for a carbon roof
    • Not in any way aroused by any of those, except maybe the big AMGs. And that would break my never a Euro, ever, rule.
