Hi guys ive been doing some research on the forums about the 100km or import service people carry out on their gtr's. I'm not going to be chasing any serious power. I just want somthing reliable.

These are the things i'm definatly doing.

Replace ALL fluids

Change timing belt and have others inspected

Change all filters, oil, fuel etc.

Now I hear alot of people also do these.. are these a good idea to do for what i want?

Change fuel pump (if yes genuine or aftermarket?)

Change oil pump (wouldnt this cost ALOT?)

Clean injectors (if the car runs fine now is that necessary?)

Water pump

New spark plugs (again is this necessary if the car runs well?)

any other MUST DO'S to stay reliable?

(I already know the about the turbo's :) )

Thanks guys!

Full service you will do;

Spark plugs

Fuel filter

Oil filter

Oil

Maybe run injector cleaner

Change the timing belt

Water pump

Flush radiator (new coolant)

Tensioner pulley (I think?)

Don't need to change oil pump, or fuel pump it self.

If something else comes to mind I will post it up for you.

thanks alot!!! is there much cost involved in doing the idler and tension units, cam seals and front main seal? Thanks!

The tensioner and idler can be had for cheap, jsut DO NOT go to Nissan. They quoted me damn near $500 (from memory), i ended up getting them for about $90 delivered. Good idea to do seals while you can. C

Hahah so true.

If you have a look through the trader section man, there are usually like 100,000km service kits available.

That includes like water pump, tensioner, timing belt, seals etc

I will see if I can find something for you and link you up.

This is an old thread, but basically something like this kit would be ideal for what your doing :)

Hope that helps and gives you some idea of whats needed.

Good luck.

Thanks for that!! i have a couple of questions.

1. Would i benefit from having both exhaust and intake side cam gears? I kind of remember someone saying you dont need 1 or the other.

2. Would the car have to be tuned upon installtion of the cam gears? or will they simply adjust them the same as the previous config.

3. If i change the cams seals now and decide to go for adj cam gears later on will the seals need changing again? is it one of those things you may aswel do?.

4. Is there any point in a hks or trust timing belt as the nissan one is good for 100,000km's?

Thanks for any advice! >_<

Get genuine Nissan parts where possible...it might be a bit more expensive but

you know they have lasted till your so called 100K...

In my opinion try 200K..just my opinion though.

Oh...don't delay your service..I did mine the week I got the car.

PS..don't confuse yourself....get your service first..

Cams will be no good with your stock turbo...and gears will have no impact as well.

SERVICE

AIR INTAKE/EXHAUST UPGRADE

TURBO UPGRADE

PFC/BOOST CONTROLLER

TUNE AND DRIVE

Getting the cam gears at that stage while the timing belt and pulleys are off is a good idea. Might aswell do it cause there are some good gains to be had with cam gears and a PowerFC.

Doing it now just saves you labour $$$ later and would only cost you the cam gears themselves now.

ok well i am planning on doing a power fc and new turbo's later on down the track but not at this stage. The car already has a full exhaust and ive orderd new filters for my pods as the old ones were filthy. Already have a boost controller though ill be leaving boost as standard for now. Don't want to risk stuffing a turbo or my engine. Anyone else comment on the fuel pump? Should I go aftermarket or genuine? Only ever going to be after 250 to 300awkw.

Can anyone answer these Q's?

1. Would i benefit from having both exhaust and intake side cam gears? I kind of remember someone saying you dont need 1 or the other.

2. Would the car have to be tuned upon installtion of the cam gears? or will they simply adjust them the same as the previous config.

3. Is there actually and advantage having hks or trust timing belt over the genuine nissan? I can't imagine there would be ANY difference in terms of performance.

THANKS :)
